Erik | So, yeah… Before I got slung in that dungeon, I stashed a…certain something in downtown Heliodor. And now I want to go get it. Let’s head north! |
Erik | Let’s go say thanks to the nun who looked after us. |
Erik | Me and Derk stashed the Orb in the biggest garbage pile in Heliodor! Now it’s time to go liberate that loot! |
Erik | That rat Derk must have done the
dirty on me and taken the loot for himself! We need to track him down. There’s an inn we used to crash in over on the east side of town. Let’s start our search there! |
Erik | Come on, we need to head to the inn! We don’t want to miss Ruby again. |
Erik | You heard Ruby—Derk’s opened his own shop up by the castle. Let’s go pay him a little visit. He’s got some explaining to do… |
Erik | I guess I really owe the people
of Cobblestone, huh? If they hadn’t sent you up to Heliodor, we’d never have met—and I’d probably still be stuck in that dungeon! Hey, why don’t we head on over there now, so I can say thanks? It’s to the south of Heliodor, right? |
Erik | Good old Derk. I should never
have doubted him. And since the Orb’s down at the Kingsbarrow, we can drop by your hometown on the way there! Come on, let’s head south to the Manglegrove. |
Erik | Sounds like we’ve tracked Derk down. Let’s head up towards the castle and pay him a little visit. |
Erik | Now we know where Derk is, we
just need to figure out a way to get past that guard. Word is he’s no fan of dogs. If we could borrow one, we might be able to scare him away and slip through the gate… |
Erik | Well, what do you know? Old Derk
was looking out for me all this time. I guess I owe him one. Now, let’s head out and see what he has to say about the whereabouts of the Orb… |
Erik | So we finally made it to the
classy part of town… Let’s see if we can’t find Derk’s shop over by the
castle. Hey, but don’t forget that we’re still Heliodor’s most wanted, okay? We need to watch our backs. |
Erik | That monster’s dumb tricks
really slowed us down. We need to push on. I mean, we’ve got to pay a visit to your hometown before heading to the Kingsbarrow, right? Come on, let’s make tracks! |
Erik | You know all that crazy stuff we
just saw? I feel like it really happened. It happened right here… I guess we should look for a mischievous little monster hiding in a treasure chest—if we find one of those, we’ll know it’s all true. Let’s head back the way we came and see if we can’t find a likely spot where a treasure chest might be stashed. |
Erik | You can bust out the Fun-Size
Forge any time you want, you know—you just have to head to a campsite or dig
it out of your bag. Now, let’s get through the Manglegrove and pay a visit to Cobblestone before any guards from Heliodor catch up with us. |
Erik | So this is the Manglegrove,
huh? Come on, let’s head through it and pay a visit to your hometown! |
Erik | I never knew there was a place
called Cobblestone to the south of Heliodor before I met you. I remember scoping out the area before we stole the Orb, but I never spotted any villages on the map—it just looked like a bunch of craggy old mountains. |
Erik | Well, the Orb’s been returned to
its rightful owner—me! Next stop, Cobblestone! See, I don’t care how sacred it is—I don’t want to hang round this dingy old place a moment longer than we have to… |
Erik | So it looks like we skipped
Cobblestone and came straight to the Kingsbarrow. Well, I guess we might as
well get my Orb back while we’re here. …The only question is, who or what took out those guards? We need to be careful, man… |
Erik | So it looks like we skipped Cobblestone and came straight to the Kingsbarrow. Well, I guess we might as well get my Orb back while we’re here. |
Erik | 【not
used】「もう少し 楽しむ余裕のある旅ならいいんだが あいにくと 今のオレたちは 追われる身だ。 ぶらぶらしているヒマはないぜ。 |
Erik | Listen, I know it’s tough, but
we can’t just hang around here. If what your grandad said was right, we need
to head east, to Cobblestone Falls. I mean, if that tree showed you stuff from the past, I guess it must be pretty important, right? You should go and check out whatever it is your grandad wanted you to find. |
Erik | So we got the Keystone we need
to open the Door of Departure—but before we go any further, I’ve got a little
business of my own to wrap up. Derk said the Orb is over to the east, in the Kingsbarrow. I need to get it back. |
Erik | Listen, I know it’s tough, but
hanging around here won’t do us any good. We’re wanted men, remember? If we get caught, all your grandad’s efforts will have gone to waste. We need to head east to the Door of Departure—and we need to leave right now. |
Erik | So if what your grandad said was
right, we need to head east, to Cobblestone Falls. We can worry about the Orb later—for now, let’s go do some digging. |
Erik | It’s best to stay as far away
from Heliodor as we can. If the guards catch up with us, they’ll sling us
back in the cells and throw away the key. We’ve got to stay focused on what your grandad told you, okay? Let’s head east to the Door of Departure. |
Erik | So according to your grandad, we
need to head on over to Cobblestone Falls and find a three-sided rock,
right? If that root showed you stuff from the past, I guess it must have been pretty important. You should go check out whatever it is your grandad wanted you to find. |
Erik | So we got the Keystone we need
to open the Door of Departure—but before we go any further, I’ve got a little
business of my own to wrap up. Derk said the Orb is over to the east, in the Kingsbarrow. I need to get it back. |
Erik | So we’ve both taken care of
business—it’s time to do what your grandad said and head to the Door of
Departure. It’s to the east of here, right? Come on, let’s get going! |
Erik | The Orb’s been returned to its rightful owner, so I guess our next stop is Cobblestone Falls. |
Erik | Hey, I appreciate you coming
here to help me find my Orb. Once I’ve got that back, we can head over to Cobblestone Falls and check out that three-sided rock. …The only question is who—or what—did this to the guards? |
Erik | Hey, I appreciate you coming
here to help me find my Orb. Once I’ve got that back, we can head over to Cobblestone Falls and check out that three-sided rock. |
Erik | So we made it to the
Kingsbarrow, huh? Now, if there’s anything I’ve learned from my years of
relieving people of their possessions, it’s that you always find treasure in
the last place you look. So unless I’m very much mistaken, the Orb’s gonna be in the deepest, darkest room in the place. …The only question is who—or what—did this to the guards here? |
Erik | So we made it to the
Kingsbarrow, huh? Now, if there’s anything I’ve learned from my years of
relieving people of their possessions, it’s that you always find treasure in
the last place you look. So unless I’m very much mistaken, the Orb’s gonna be in the deepest, darkest room in the place. |
Erik | You haven’t forgotten that we’re
Heliodor’s most wanted, have you? This isn’t the time to be sightseeing—if the guards catch us, they’ll sling us back in the cells and throw away the key. |
Erik | You know what the worst thing
about being locked up in that dungeon was? The food. The bread was so hard you could crack rocks with it. If I never see that place again, it’ll be too soon… |
Erik | Hey, are you trying to ditch me or what? I said I was going to the bathhouse and the next thing I know, you’re sneaking out of the village! |
Erik | I think it’s safe to say we’re
not being followed any more. For now, at least… Now, I don’t know about you, but I can’t say that I’ve ever been here before. How about we go chat to some of the locals? |
Erik | Dammit, I get the feeling we
might be lost. Make sure you keep checking the map, okay? Otherwise we might never see daylight again… |
Erik | Phew! It’s hot! Are you sure you
don’t want to, like, strip off a bit? You’re going to stew in that
outfit. How about we head down the mountain and see if we can’t find a place to cool down? |
Erik | Hey, where do you think you’re going? We finally found some folks to talk to and you’re running away? |
Erik | Um, <pc>? You do remember
what we’re doing, right? We’re heading to the bar with those two girls. Listen, I totally understand why hanging out with that Veronica brat might not be your idea of fun, but we can’t just abandon that other little girl, can we? Let’s head back to Hotto and reassure them that we haven’t forgotten about them. |
Erik | That Veronica kid talks a good
game, but could she really handle herself if things got hairy? I guess she did say she was a mighty sage from Arboria. That must mean something, right? I’m not sure what though… |
Erik | So let me get this
straight—Veronica and Serena are twins, and Veronica is the older one? It’s
going to take a while to get my head around this… I just hope it’s not going to freak Serena out too much having a big sister who looks like a little kid… |
Erik | You know, I don’t think it was
just a coincidence we ran into these girls. All this stuff about Arborian legends, the Luminary, the Dark One…it sounds like destiny at work to me. And maybe it’s all true—maybe you really are going to save the world, <pc>! |
Erik | Where do you think you’re going,
<pc>? Aren’t we meant to be looking for ways to reach the World
Tree? Listen, that Noah guy we busted out of jail is someone I’ve come across before. He’s a man who knows things. Lots of things. He might be able to help us. We should head back to Hotto and see if he isn’t propping up the bar. |
Erik | So old Noah thinks he saw a
branch from the World Tree, does he? I’m not sure I buy it, but I guess we’ve
got no choice but to check it out. We need to head south-west, huh? Gallopolis, here we come! |
Erik | So we’re looking after lost kids
now, huh? Well, let’s help Connie out and then split. We’re wanted men, after
all. Connie’s sister’s got to be that girl in the red hat you saw hanging round the bar, right? |
Erik | Gah, how did we end up running a
childminding service? Connie was one thing, but this Veronica kid? She’s
something else. Let’s drop them at the bar and split this joint. We’re wanted men, remember? |
Erik | Veronica may be a pain in the
you-know-what, but we’ve still got to help her out. I mean, her sister’s just a little girl, right? We can’t let these monsters get their claws on her. |
Erik | I knew I’d seen that Noah guy
before. He sells juicy information to…err…people in my line of
work. I bet he knows a way to get to Yggdrasil. Let’s head to the bar and see what we can get out of him. |
Erik | This place is giving me a
headache. Let me guess—you’re lost. I’m not too sure where we are either, actually. My advice is keep checking the map till you work out where you’re at. |
Erik | I don’t like this place one
little bit. I get the feeling folks come in here and don’t leave… I’m telling you, I’m a thief—I know when something’s not right. Let’s find this Serena kid and then scram. |
Erik | You know, I was pretty nervous
about meeting Serena. I mean, the last thing we needed was another
Veronica. Still, I’m happy to admit when I’m wrong. It turns out Serena is mature, sensible, calm…everything her sister isn’t, basically. |
Erik | Come on, <pc>! Noah said
he was heading back to Hotto, didn’t he? Well, there’s no one else to rescue here. Let’s head back and see what he’s got to say. |
Erik | What’s up, <pc>? Are you
worried there are some monsters down here you haven’t beaten yet? Well, whatever you do, you know I’ve got your back. I’m not sure we have time for too much aimless wandering, though… |
Erik | You know what the worst thing
about being locked up in that dungeon was? The food. The bread was so hard you could crack rocks with it. If I never see that place again, it’ll be too soon… |
Erik | Gah, I was planning on relaxing
in the bathhouse, but now it looks like we’ve ended up running a childminding
service. Let’s drop the kids off at the bar and then split. We’re wanted men, remember? |
Erik | Look, I know we rescued Serena,
but I don’t think we should start wandering around aimlessly just yet. We need to get Veronica’s magic powers back, right? I get the feeling she’s going to give you a piece of her mind if you don’t get moving. |
Erik | So let me get this straight—if
we manage to get up to Yggdrasil, we stand a chance of finding out why the
Luminary was reborn. That’s how it works, right…? …Sheesh! It’s too hot to think! Come on, let’s head to the castle, grab that branch and then go cool down somewhere. |
Erik | Horse racing sounds kind of cool, but we’ve got a branch of the World Tree to find. Let’s go talk to the Sultan. |
Erik | This place is seriously big! The desert knights have got no shortage of space to train, that’s for sure. |
Erik | So this is the racetrack, huh?
And unless I’m mistaken, it looks like anyone can give it a go. …But we’re not here to ride around on horses! We’ve got serious things to do—like finding out what the Sultan has to say about that branch! |
Erik | Man, it’s hot… I’ve never been able to handle this kind of heat. Listen, if we don’t have a reason to be out here in the desert, why don’t we head off somewhere cooler? |
Erik | Listen, <pc>… Are you
sure you’re okay with having this Sylvando guy along for the ride? I kind of
feel like he’s forced himself into the picture… I mean, we’re still on the run, and he’s not exactly going to help us keep a low profile… |
Erik | All that stuff we were talking
about with Sylvando—about the Luminary and the Lord of Shadows—that was
pretty wild, but he seemed to take it all in his stride. I guess he’s not
easily shocked… Anyway, enough about him. We need to focus on capturing the Slayer and getting hold of that Rainbough! |
Erik | Why did Prince Faris insist on
having us capture the Slayer? Wouldn’t it be better for everyone if we just
finished it off when we had the chance? I bet he just wants to show off to his adoring public back in the city. Man, that guy’s an idiot! |
Erik | That Sylvando guy talks way too
much…but he can really fight. I guess it makes sense to let him tag
along. Okay, <pc>. Let’s head for Gondolia and see if we can’t track down the merchant who bought the Rainbough! |
Erik | Hey, <pc>. The Prince said he wanted to speak to you, right? Let’s go visit him at the palace. |
Erik | We really don’t have time to be going to circuses, but I guess we’ve got no choice if we want to get hold of the Rainbough. And who knows, maybe we’ll get to see some cool stuff while we’re there. |
Erik | This guy’s not much of a prince,
is he? I mean, I know we need to get hold of the Rainbough, but do we really
have to go along with his crazy plan? Still, the circus was really something, right? That Sylvando guy was pretty wild. I’m not saying it’s made the whole thing worthwhile, but getting to see that for free was cool. |
Erik | Wow… Listen to all that
cheering! Seems all you got to do is stand next to a fake prince, and people
go wild. Anyway, this might all be a big con, but a race is a race. Make sure you win it, okay? And don’t worry—we’ll be cheering you on from the stands. |
Erik | Well, thank goodness that’s
over. That’s the last time I’m doing any favours for royalty… Speaking of which, it sounds like Prince Faris has been summoned back to the Palace to talk to the Sultan. I think we should do the same, <pc>. Let’s get that Rainbough and wave goodbye to this horrible, sweaty place. |
Erik | Gah, wouldn’t you just know it?
We were about to bag the Rainbough, and then this ‘Slayer of the Sands’ has
to go and turn up… What’s up with that Sultan, anyway? Can he really not see how useless his son is? I know it’s none of my business, but if I was him, I’d be pretty worried about this place’s future… |
Erik | I just want you to know, I’m
only going to help capture this Slayer thing because you made the call, okay?
I’m not doing it to help that useless prince. Now, where did he say he’d meet us again? At the castle gates? Come on then. Let’s get this over with… |
Erik | Uh, <pc>… You haven’t forgotten that we’re actually on the run, right? Let’s hope this Sylvando guy doesn’t draw too much attention to us… |
Erik | So after all that—all that
running around after Prince Faris—we’re still no closer to bagging the
Rainbough? Great. Still, I guess this place is in better shape than when we found it. The Sultan’s seen the error of his ways, and even the Prince looked like he might pull his socks up… Right. Come on, <pc>. Let’s stay on the trail of the Rainbough and head west to Gondolia! |
Erik | It sounds like we’re one step
closer to getting hold of this Rainbough thing. But I’m worried, <pc>.
The Prince was really staring at you back there… You don’t think he’s figured out who you are, do you? I wouldn’t put it past him, you know… After all, they say he’s the most capable prince this kingdom has ever had. If we’re going to see him, we need to watch our step. |
Erik | Well, it looks like the Prince
hasn’t worked out that you’re the Luminary, but I still don’t trust
him… We’re wanted men, you know. We can’t afford to forget that for a second. |
Erik | The Prince told us to come to
the throne room, right? Well, let’s head in there, grab the Rainbough and get the heck out of here. |
Erik | Uh… Should we really be
bringing Sylvando into the palace? You know what these performing types are like. If he causes a scene, well, don’t say I didn’t warn you… |
Erik | Uh… Should we really be
bringing Sylvando into the palace? You know what he’s like. He’s just going to climb up a tower and cause some kind of scene. Well, don’t say I didn’t warn you… |
Erik | So this is the Gallopolis
racetrack, huh? It looks like people come from all over the world to race
here… We could even give it a go ourselves if we didn’t have more important things to worry about. But first things first, let’s go talk to the Prince. |
Erik | So you’re planning on entering a race before heading to the circus? I didn’t know you were such a racing fan… |
Erik | Look, I don’t much want to talk to the Prince either, but we can’t put it off forever… |
Erik | So it seems even the Slayer of
the Sands isn’t a reason to cancel horse races around here… I’m not sure if that makes these people brave or stupid. Either way, if you want to take part, I won’t stop you. Heck, I’ll even cheer you on. |
Erik | What’s up, <pc>? Wait, let me guess—you want to enter another horse race, right? Seems like you’ve become quite the fan… |
Erik | So when we get to Yggdrasil, we’ll finally find out why the Luminary was born. That’s the plan anyway. I guess we’ve got no choice but to push on. |
Erik | You know, I couldn’t believe it
when Sylvando told us he had his own ship. I didn’t take him for the
seafaring type… And he’s got it moored in Gondolia, the poshest port in Erdrea. There’s more to him than meets the eye, that’s for sure. |
Erik | I’ve asked around a bit, and it
sounds like the merchant who bought the Rainbough has already left
Gondolia. Let’s get on his tail right away. Sylvando’s ship is moored over in the west of the city! |
Erik | Heh. I get why we’re here. After
all that time in the desert, I’m desperate for a bit of cool water too! But splashing about in this fountain isn’t going to help us find the Rainbough… |
Erik | What are we doing out here,
<pc>? If we don’t get on board Sylvando’s ship, we’re never going to
catch up with the merchant who’s got the Rainbough. We haven’t got time to waste! Let’s get back to Gondolia and get them to open the dock for us! |
Erik | Well, we’re not going to get the dock opened if that Doge guy won’t listen to us. It looks like we’ve got nothing better to do than running errands for kids, at least for now… |
Erik | You know what? I’d say we’re
being pretty heroic right now. I mean, we’ve never met this kid before, and
here we are running errands for him! But let’s not get bogged down in this do-goodery, okay? Once we sort this out we need to board the ship and find that Rainbough. |
Erik | You know, the troops from
Heliodor always seem to know where we’re headed next… I guess this means we’ve got to stay on our toes, right? We never know when we’re going to have to make a break for it… |
Erik | Veronica and Serena have gone
off with that Sylvando guy, so I guess it’s just you and me again… There’s no point moping about it, though. Let’s head to Doge Rotondo’s place and see if he can open up the dock for us. |
Erik | Look, he shouldn’t have stolen Veronica’s staff, but there’s no need to be too hard on him. Kids that young don’t always get the difference between right and wrong… |
Erik | First he insists that we help
that kid, then he orders us to save him some seats for the contest… Man,
that Sylvando guy really has a nerve! Still, what can you do? Let’s head over to the stage and see what’s what. |
Erik | We sure caused a bit of a scene
back there. Lucky we had Doge Rotondo to explain everything to the locals or
else we’d never have been welcome here again. Oh, and I wouldn’t worry about the handful of Heliodorian soldiers that are still hanging around. They don’t seem to have noticed who you are. I guess they must be new to the job… |
Erik | Heh. I get why we’re here. After
all that time in the desert, I’m desperate for a bit of cool water too! But splashing about in this fountain isn’t going to help us find the Rainbough… |
Erik | It’s kind of clammy in here, huh? This isn’t good for my hair, you know… |
Erik | Heh, so let me guess—you just
got this urge to come back here and sniff around in case you missed
something? Trust me, I know the feeling. I mean, I used to be a thief. Come on, let’s see if we can’t bag us some loot. |
Erik | The salty air, the rolling
waves, it makes me feel like I’m a kid again… Sorry. Ignore me. Just thinking out loud. Let’s focus on getting to Zwaardsrust and finding the guy who bought the Rainbough. |
Erik | Gondolia and Puerto Valor are
both on the coast, but the vibe couldn’t be more different. This is a full-on
tourist resort… Actually, I think I remember someone saying there was a casino here somewhere. How about we pay it a visit? It might do us good to take a break. |
Erik | So we’re really in a casino,
huh? That’s pretty cool! I thought you’d be a bit too square for this kind of
thing. But I guess you must be tired of being on the run too, right? It’s nice to kick back and relax sometimes! |
Erik | Uh… What exactly are we doing
here again? Don’t you remember what happened last time!? Plus we’ve got Sylv with us now—he’s not going to help us keep a low profile, that’s for sure… |
Erik | Remember when you and me first
set out from here, <pc>? It was a fair while ago and nothing seems to
have changed in the meantime… Listen, man, I know it’s hard, but we’ve got to keep pushing on. We just don’t have time to think about what might have been. |
Erik | Whatever we’re doing here, we don’t have time for it. We need to get back to Gondolia and get the Doge to open the dock for us! |
Erik | Man, when Jasper and his goons
had us surrounded back in Gondolia, I really thought we were done
for… It’s kind of a miracle we managed to get away. Problem is, it’s only going to make them more determined to catch us… |
Erik | I’ve always been kind of a lone
wolf, so I’m not used to hanging out with a big crowd. It makes a nice change though. Things are definitely livelier now… We just need to make sure Sylv doesn’t make things too lively, though. We’re still wanted men, remember? |
Erik | So this is Octagonia, huh? I’d
heard it had some kind of fighting arena. I guess that explains all these
burly looking guys… The Masked Martial Arts tournament sounds kind of cool, though, right? We should check it out while we’re in town. |
Erik | First all that stuff went down
in Gondolia, and now we’re thinking of entering a fighting tournament? We’re meant to be on the run! We’re not doing a very good job of keeping a low profile, you know! |
Erik | Come on, man! We’re going to end
up missing the whole tournament at this rate! Let’s head back to Octagonia. And remember—we’re not going to bag the Rainbough unless we win this thing! |
Erik | I don’t believe it! You actually
won! …Nah, I’m just kidding. I always knew you had it in you. I’m just sore I had to face that Jade chick in the first round. I could’ve gone a lot further if I’d been able to get into my stride… |
Erik | That old guy played us, man, and
we fell for it hook, line and sinker! The Rainbough was just bait. He’s just trying to lure you to him, <pc>. Look, don’t ask me why, but I bet you I’m right. Come on, let’s head west to Dundrasil and find out what’s going on! |
Erik | I don’t get it. Why are Rab and
Jade making us come all the way to Dundrasil? What are they plotting? I had a bad feeling about those two from the start. It’s time to confront them and get some answers! |
Erik | You sure got lucky back there,
getting paired with last year’s champion… Well, you know what this means, right? Now you have to win this thing! Let’s make that Rainbough ours! |
Erik | What is it with Veronica, man? I mean, I’m happy she’s okay and all, but I wish she wouldn’t keep getting herself into these situations… |
Erik | It’s nearly time for the first round! Start as you mean to go on, you hear? We need to win this thing! |
Erik | Man, I sure got a shock when I
saw Sylv out there in the arena… Still, you can’t let that distract you now. One more win and the Rainbough’s ours! |
Erik | So you went to check on Vince,
huh? I heard about what happened. It’s got to be connected to all these fighters who’ve been disappearing, right? Anyway, you and Vince are okay. That’s the main thing. Now, you need to get your focus back! It’s nearly time for the big fight! Vince is in the waiting room. Go let him know when you’re ready—and good luck out there, man! |
Erik | Hey there, Champ! Heh. I guess
you’d better get used to being called that… You know, I’ve been thinking. That pair you beat in the final were really something. Seriously, who were they? I mean, there can’t be many people who can fight like that… |
Erik | I wonder why Rab asked us to
help him look for his partner? Hmm. I guess you are the best man for the job, being the champion and all… |
Erik | Sounds like it’s finally time
for you to claim your prize! For a minute there, I thought we were going to
end up empty-handed—again. The guy at the desk wants you to give him a shout when you’re all set. You know the desk I mean, right? It’s the one at the entrance to the arena. |
Erik | That old guy played us, man, and
we fell for it hook, line and sinker! The Rainbough was just bait. He was trying to lure you to him, <pc>. Look, don’t ask me why, but I bet you I’m right. Come on, let’s head west to Dundrasil and find out what’s going on! |
Erik | Man, this place is like a maze!
Who’d have thought you’d find something like this right underneath that
orphanage! Listen, we can’t afford to get lost down here—we have a hunt for Jade, and if she’s not here, we get out. |
Erik | All that stuff with Vince and
the monster’s been figured out, right? So…what are we doing down here
again? Spending too much time in places like this is kind of a downer. Let’s head back up to Octagonia. |
Erik | Do we have any reason to be here, <pc>? Let’s hurry up and get ourselves back on track. |
Erik | We really don’t have time to
hang around out here. We’re on the run, remember? I mean, it’s great that you’re so chilled out about it all, but we need to stay focused. We’ve got places to be. |
Erik | …… |
Erik | How the heck did that old dude
work out that you’re the Luminary, <pc>!? I guess we can’t avoid having to talk to him about it, though—not if we want the Rainbough. Let’s just be careful, okay? |
Erik | I don’t believe it… You and
that old dude are related! We should go and do this ritual thing right away, <pc>. Your grandad said he was going up the hill behind the castle, right? |
Erik | So the forces of evil have taken
hold of Heliodor, huh? That explains a lot… Man, this Mordegon guy must be really something. I mean, controlling a huge kingdom from the shadows like that… |
Erik | …… Hey, don’t worry about that red orb I gave you. If you need it, it’s all yours. So now you’ve got two, right? My red orb and the yellow one Rab gave you. That means there’s four left… |
Erik | …… Hey, don’t worry about that red orb I gave you. If you need it, it’s all yours. So now you’ve got two, right? My red orb and the yellow one Rab gave you. That means there’s four left… |
Erik | This ritual’s meant to send the
souls of the dead to a better place, right…? Well, I really hope it works. It sounds like your parents deserve to rest in peace. Now, I guess we should head up the hill to the altar that old dude was talking about. Oh, and we might need to give him a hand. It’s pretty steep, after all… |
Erik | Hey, do you know what’s up with
Sylv? He looks kind of on edge… He’s barely said a word since we set out for Puerto Valor. I hope he isn’t sick or anything… |
Erik | Sylv said he was going to meet
some guy, right? And he still hasn’t come back? It’s weird. Normally he loves checking out new towns—and I bet he’d love this place. I can imagine him wanting to move here… |
Erik | So we’re really in a casino,
huh? That’s pretty cool! I thought you’d be a bit too square for this kind of
thing. But I guess you must be tired of being on the run too, right? It’s nice to kick back and relax sometimes! |
Erik | Listen, you know that red orb I
gave you? I didn’t just bring it along to sell for big bucks. I had a feeling
it would come in useful somehow… I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m glad you’ve got it now. It feels like it should belong to the Luminary, somehow. Just don’t go dropping it, alright? |
Erik | Four more orbs to go! Let’s get moving! |
Erik | Uh… Don’t we have something we
should be doing? The Puerto Valor sea gates are open, and we need to be out there exploring the world! Those orbs won’t find themselves! |
Erik | …… |
Erik | That little girl we saw—she’s the one you told us had lost her parents, right? I think we’d better go after her. |
Erik | I wonder how that little girl’s
doing? You know, the one that you and Sylv met? If she still hasn’t found her parents, we should probably go help. |
Erik | So it seems like that mural is
connected to some weird other world, and for whatever reason, people seem to
think going there is a good idea. It’s Dora I’m worried about though. She’s probably been sucked in there too, right…? |
Erik | So I guess this means we’re back
in the real world, huh? But we’re not done here yet. We need to find that little girl before she causes any more chaos! |
Erik | I always thought it was fishy,
this whole idea that the mural could bring you good fortune… I mean, if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. |
Erik | I’m kind of worried about the
locals here, man. Nothing that’s happened seems to have affected them in the
slightest… Or maybe that’s a good thing. If they’re getting on with their lives, I guess all is well… |
Erik | Man, that was one nasty monster. But then it was a pretty nasty place… |
Erik | What the…!? Where the heck are
we!? We were just standing in those ruins, right? And then the mural started glowing, and now…this! Man, I just don’t get it… |
Erik | She’s got a nerve! All that
stuff about her squeezing the colour out of us… It sounds kind of horrible, right? How about we try not to let that happen. |
Erik | Oh, man! I don’t believe it! We
walked straight into that portrait’s trap! But that doesn’t mean we’re beaten yet! Dora’s not getting away with this! |
Erik | Thanks for getting us out of
that jam. That was a close one… Okay, we can’t go back to where those thorn things were, so I guess our only option is to keep pushing forward… |
Erik | All this ‘brings you good
fortune’ stuff? I don’t believe a word of it. But I guess we might as well go
and check out this famous mural while we’re in the area. I mean, Rab even seems to think it might give us some clues about where we need to go next… |
Erik | Wow, so this is a school? It’s
kind of fancy… Well, it’s not exactly my kind of place, but it’s pretty
nice, I’ve got to say. I bet they spend a lot of time studying manners and stuff here. If I’d gone to a place like this, I guess I would’ve turned out pretty differently… |
Erik | So we need those six orbs to
open up the path to Yggdrasil, right…? Man, I carried that red orb around with me all that time, and I had no idea what it could do… It’s yours now, though. Just make sure you don’t drop it, you hear me? |
Erik | It’s cold, sure, but there’s no
way the whole city should be frozen solid like this. Let’s check this place out and find out what’s going on here… |
Erik | …… |
Erik | It’s kind of chilly around here,
right…? Lots of people don’t realise how cold it gets. They come north for
a holiday and end up freezing to death. The one thing we’ve absolutely got to do is stay awake. If you fall asleep out here, you’re a goner. |
Erik | There’s treasure to be found in
this valley, trust me. I used to be a pirate, remember… The best swag’s always hidden away in out-of-the-way places like this. |
Erik | Hey, if you’re not sure where we
should head to next, maybe we should try asking Queen Marina? She seems to know a lot, right? I bet she could give us a few travel tips… |
Erik | Are we really at the bottom of
the sea…? Heh heh! I don’t believe it! I guess nothing really surprises me any more, though. Not after everything we’ve been through. |
Erik | …… |
Erik | What did Michelle say this Kai
guy was like? A hunky, chunky sailor stuffed full of emotion or
something…? What does that even mean? I guess love really is blind—it sounds like she can’t remember what her sweetheart looks like! |
Erik | Is it just me, or does anyone else get the feeling this giant squid isn’t going down without a fight? Fingers crossed it doesn’t take the Stallion down with it… |
Erik | Veronica told me what happened
with Kai. Poor Michelle, huh? She must have been waiting on that island for
decades… From a human point of view, it’s kinda crazy. I guess mermaids must have a heck of a lot more patience than us… |
Erik | You don’t need to worry about
Michelle getting spotted, <pc>. Nobody’s going to take a stroll in a spooky graveyard this time of night. |
Erik | Michelle said she’d left our
reward for finding Kai on the Strand. She must have already decided what she was going to do when she told us she wanted to come here and see him. Don’t beat yourself up about it, <pc>. All you did was tell the truth. You can’t have any regrets about that. |
Erik | Seems like the people round here
still don’t know what really went on between Michelle and Kainoa. I want to open their eyes to the truth, but at the same time, I know it’ll make them miserable. I guess ignorance really is bliss… |
Erik | All we’ve got to do is get Michelle and Kai together, then we can wash our hands of this whole mess. Come on, <pc>—let’s finish this. |
Erik | …… …I guess that’s why you don’t go sticking your nose into other people’s love lives. (sniff) |
Erik | I feel kind of bad about leaving
Michelle here, but hey—at least we can make our way to the mermaid kingdom
now. She said we just have to sail through the Valorian strait, find the shining whirlpool and play that harp she gave us when we’re parked over it, right? So what are we waiting for? Let’s move out! |
Erik | It’s always so quiet here, man. No sound at all except the gentle lapping of the waves. It’s enough to make you feel like you’re all alone in the world… |
Erik | So, if we get Michelle and this
Kai guy together, we’ll be able to make our way down to the kingdom of the
mermaids? Cool. If anyone knows whether that pearl that sank to the bottom of the sea is really the Orb we’re after, the queen of the mermaids will. Sticking your nose into other people’s love lives hardly ever ends well—but I guess this is our lucky day! |
Erik | When the tentacular attacked us
in Gondolia, we’d have been sunk if it wasn’t for the Doge and his men. I
think it’s going to be a different story this time, though… We’re tougher than we were, and there’s more of us, too. That stupid squid won’t know what hit him! |
Erik | Listen, <pc>. I’m not
going to blame you if you don’t tell Michelle the whole story. That’s a heck
of a thing to have to break to someone. …What would I tell her? I’d give it to her straight. Kainoa would want her to know the truth. If someone I loved spent their whole life all on their own cause of me…I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself. |
Erik | Maybe meeting Kai will convince Michelle that her fiancé’s really gone. It’ll break her heart, but it’s the only way she can move on. |
Erik | Come on, let’s get out of here—this place creeps me out. It feels like time has stopped…just like it had for Michelle… |
Erik | We just need to sail through the
Valorian strait into the inland sea, find the shining whirlpool and play
Lorelei’s harp once we’re above it, and we’ll be on our way to mermaid
town. So what are we still hanging around here for? Let’s roll! |
Erik | Where to next, <pc>? If
you’re fresh out of ideas, we should head back to Nautica and talk to Queen
Marina. She said she’s got some kind of second sight, right? Maybe she’d be able to tell us where we should be heading next. |
Erik | Man… I can’t believe we’re
actually down here, standing on the seabed! This is crazy! No matter where else we end up travelling to, nothing’s gonna faze me now! |
Erik | We’ve got the Orbs,
<pc>—all six of them. Let’s head on over to the First Forest and open up the path to Yggdrasil. The First Forest is up in the Arborian Highlands. We’ve just gotta sail into Sniflheim, cross the Snærfelt and we’ll be there in no time. |
Erik | Where to next, <pc>? If
you haven’t decided yet, why not ask Queen Marina? Seems like she’s pretty clued up on everything that’s going on in the world. Maybe she’ll be able to tell us where we should be heading next. |
Erik | Why did we have to go sticking
our noses into other peoples’ love lives? I always knew this was a bad
idea… Still, we’ve started it now, so I guess we better finish it. Let’s head back to the Strand and give Michelle that veil. |
Erik | Hey, <pc>. I want to see
the world just as much as you do, but don’t forget about that Orb we’re
looking for—you know, the one that sank to the bottom of the sea. If anyone knows anything about it, the queen of the mermaids will. How about we go pay her a visit? |
Erik | Remember when we were running
from the guards in the caves under Heliodor? I thought things’d cool off
after that, but our journey just keeps getting crazier! Sure, wandering the world alone had its plus points, but going on a proper adventure with a gang of true-blue buddies? …Well, that isn’t bad either. |
Erik | Before I teamed up with you I
travelled all over Erdrea, picking pockets and sleeping under the stars.
Don’t think I ever came here, though. Let’s head to the nearest town—when you find yourself in an strange place, it’s always good to talk to the locals and get the lay of the land. |
Erik | Wow, this place is so, like,
refined. Heh, I’ll bet the rich little girls studying here have never met a
guy like me before. Seriously, though—has somebody told them I’m a wanted man? It’s like they’re too scared to look me in the eye… |
Erik | Take it from a former thief—this
valley’s full of treasure. I can smell it a mile off. Places like this where nobody ever comes are always jam-packed with good swag. So let’s get looting! |
Erik | …… |
Erik | Sure, it might be cold around
here, but it’s not bad enough to freeze this whole city. There’s got to be
some other explanation. We should take a look around town. We need to figure out what’s behind all this. |
Erik | …… |
Erik | The witch Queen Frysabel told us
about must be crazy powerful to be able to freeze this whole city. And she’s not even the only one we need to worry about—it sounds like she’s got some kind of guard dog too. Something tells me we’re in for a real fight here… |
Erik | Man, I thought this place was
freezing before, but this is something else. There’s no way this can be
natural. This is all that witch’s doing. We’ve got to take her down and bring spring back to Sniflheim! |
Erik | That key we swiped from
Dora-in-Grey sure is going to open a lot of doors for us. Literally. You’ve seen them around, right? Red paint, silver symbol? Locked up so tight that even a master thief like me can’t crack them open? Well, now’s our chance to take a peek inside and loot the loot! |
Erik | What’s that? How come I was
hanging out by the gate when you guys were picking up the Orb? Uh…no
reason. Just drop it, okay? We’ve still got plenty to do, you know—so less talk, more action! Let’s move out! |
Erik | …… |
Erik | You want to watch yourself in
this cold, man. I’ve heard all kinds of tales of travellers heading out into
the Snærfelt unprepared and ending up as icicles. No matter how tired you get, don’t even think about catching some z’s. Otherwise your next bed’ll be a box. |
Erik | So the rescue party the Queen
told us about were Hendrik and his goons… I’ve got to admit, I was kinda on
edge when I saw him—that guy never normally leaves without a fight. This time, though, it seems he’s headed back to Heliodor already. Guess we scared him off, huh? |
Erik | I always thought it was weird
that Frysabel was the only Sniflheimer who escaped the witch’s spell. Now, I don’t know about you, but I think I’m starting to understand why that might be. Come on—let’s head back to town. |
Erik | You’ve got to watch out for blizzards around these parts. When those storms pick up, it’s a total white-out. It’s easy to lose your way, or bump into something you’d rather not… |
Erik | I wonder where Hendrik and his
men got to? Guess they must have headed back to Heliodor… Not that I’ve got a problem with that. It’s bad enough stumbling through all this snow without that jerk snapping at our heels. Seriously, if I never see him again it’ll be too soon. |
Erik | Man, I’ve never seen so many
books in my life. It makes my head hurt just looking at them. Guess I’m not cut out to be a scholar, huh? If you can read through any of these dusty old tomes without falling asleep, more power to you. |
Erik | Last time we were here, I
started browsing through one of the books—a really complicated-looking one
about astronomy. I thought I’d be bored stiff by the end of the first page, but I ended up reading it all the way through. Guess I’m more into stars than I knew. I always thought studying was just for eggheads, but it’s true what they say—you shouldn’t knock something till you’ve tried it. |
Erik | I used to collect mini medals
too, you know. Had myself a whole sackful of the things, but they were kinda
heavy, so I left them behind when I headed out on my travels. If I knew you were going to become a collector, I would have brought them with me. Sorry, man. |
Erik | Just a little further and we’ll be in the First Forest. Then it’ll finally be time to offer up those hard-earned Orbs and see what happens! |
Erik | Hey, don’t you think you’re putting the cart before the horse a bit, coming up here now? We’ve still got an orb or two to track down, remember? |
Erik | Looks like the First Forest is
still a ways away. What do you say we take it easy for a while before we head
off? Veronica and Serena haven’t been back home for a while, after all. They’ve got some catching up to do. |
Erik | Hey, don’t you think you’re putting the cart before the horse a bit, coming up here now? We’ve still got an orb or two to track down, remember? |
Erik | Take it from a former thief—this
valley’s full of treasure. I can smell it a mile off. Places like this where nobody ever comes are always jam-packed with good swag. So let’s get looting! |

Erik | Man… I can’t believe we’re
actually down here, standing on the seabed! This is crazy! No matter where else we end up travelling to, nothing’s gonna faze me now! |
Erik | …… |
Erik | We’ve just got to head out the back of the cathedral and we’ll finally be face-to-face with the World Tree! Get ready to be amazed, <pc>—we’re in for one heck of a view! |
Erik | That priest guy said we should
come back to see him at the cathedral once we’ve got our hands on all six
Orbs. I guess it’s back down the mountain for us then, huh? We’d better start Orb hunting again before the trail runs cold. |
Erik | So you’re the reincarnation of
Erdwin, the Luminary of Legend…and Veronica and Serena are the
reincarnations of the holy sage Serenica… I hope Erdwin had a good-looking thief in his posse too. Otherwise I’m going to start feeling like a real spare wheel here… |
Erik | There’s some kind of heart
inside that tree. The source of all life. Man, I can’t even imagine what it
might look like… But I sure can’t wait to find out! Come on, <pc>—let’s head on up! |
Erik | We’re nearly at the First Forest. Maybe we’ll finally get to put these Orbs we’ve been running around collecting to good use. |
Erik | Ever heard of ‘putting the cart before the horse’, <pc>? We can’t get to Yggdrasil until we’ve got our hands on all the Orbs—so what are we doing all the way up here!? |
Erik | Well, here we are. Within
touching distance of the World Tree at last. Our whole adventure so far has
been leading up to this… There’s a heart somewhere inside there that’s the source of all life, right? I can’t even imagine what something like that might look like. Guess we’ll know it when we see it, huh? |
Erik | I use to collect mini medals
too, you know. Had myself a whole sackful of the things, but they were kinda
heavy, so I left them behind when I headed out on my travels. If I knew you were going to become a collector, I would have brought them with me. Sorry, man. |
Erik | We’ve finally bagged all six Orbs! Come on, let’s head back to Arboria. Father Benedictus said he’d be waiting for us by the cathedral. |
Erik | The High Priest of Arboria said
to meet him at the cathedral once we’d found all six Orbs… So what are we hanging around for? Let’s get on the trail of the ones we’re missing! |
Erik | Take it from a former thief—this
valley’s full of treasure. I can smell it a mile off. Places like this where nobody ever comes are always jam-packed with good swag. So let’s get looting! |
Erik | Where to next, <pc>? If

Erik | Man… I can’t believe we’re
actually down here, standing on the seabed! This is crazy! No matter where else we end up travelling to, nothing’s gonna faze me now! |
Erik | …… |
Erik | Huh? What’s that? You’re asking
if I ever met a woman with blue hair who called herself the Seer? …Hm. Now you mention it, it does ring a bell. Um… Yeah… I think I might have. But I can’t really remember the details. Sorry about that. |
Erik | That was amazing, <pc>!
You made that thing regret ever messing with the Luminary! …Wait! Th-The Luminary… That word… It means something to me…b-but I can’t remember why… |
Erik | There’s something…strange about the ocean. It’s almost as though there’s nothing alive in it any more. I guess fresh fish is off the menu. |
Erik | So let me get this
straight—after Yggdrasil fell, these fishy folk saved your life? It sounds like you owe them big time. We have to return the favour and make the ocean safe again. |
Erik | So let me get this
straight—after Yggdrasil fell, these fishy folk saved your life? Well, we took out Alizarin, so I guess you repaid the favour. |
Erik | Hm. This place smells pretty fishy. But how is anyone managing to catch anything with that beast out in the ocean? |
Erik | I guess folks around here must be pretty pleased to have got shot of Alizarin, huh? Well, we’re only too happy to help! |
Erik | Um, am I dreaming? One minute
we’re on the ship and the next it looks like we’re under the sea. …What’s that? I’ve been here before? …No. Nothing. I can’t remember a thing… |
Erik | There’s something about those
mini medals—they’re shiny, they’re solid, and they fit right into the palm of
your hand. I can see why people get obsessed with collecting them. …Hold on! Why do I know so much about mini medals all of a sudden. This is weird… |
Erik | I don’t get it. How can a star
just fall from the sky? But then since the Lord of Shadows arrived on the scene, you never know what’s going to happen next. All I know is that things aren’t looking good… |
Erik | Just look at the sky, would you?
It’s like something from a nightmare. Ever since the Lord of Shadows arrived on the scene, things have gone from bad to worse. I dread to think what’s next… |
Erik | It’s quieter than I expected here. I guess folks have fled from the falling star. Well, I don’t blame them. |
Erik | It’s good to see the castle
guards haven’t abandoned their posts. They’re prepared to risk their lives to protect their people. You’ve got to respect that. |
Erik | I’ve got to admire anyone who’s willing to get up on a horse and race… |
Erik | It’s weird, but being here kind
of gives me a headache… It’s like there’s something I can’t quite remember… Like I’ve been here before… |
Erik | Do you remember when we went
into the Celestial Sands to capture the Slayer? Man, that feels like a looong
time ago now. I was pretty scared of that thing at the time. The Slayer’s nothing compared to Erdwin’s Lantern, though… |
Erik | Is it really possible for stars
to just fall out of the sky…? I guess anything’s possible now that the Lord of Shadows has risen. This kind of feels like the beginning of the end… |
Erik | You know, I think I remember
some stone pillars near the place where we captured the Slayer. I guess they must be the ruins Prince Faris was talking about. I don’t think they’re too far from here. What say we head over there? |
Erik | So let me get this
straight—there’s a star falling out of the sky…and you want to get closer
to it? I think I’m starting to get an idea of what you guys are like… |
Erik | Whoa… This is kind of
beautiful, right? I guess we’re not going to forget this any time soon. I mean, it’s like Prince Faris said—how many people get to see a falling star up close like this? |
Erik | So we don’t know when that big
star’s going to drop, but we’re just standing here, right under it…? Look man, I don’t want to die out here. Let’s check out what we need to check out then head back to the city. |
Erik | D-Did you see that? It went and
sliced the Lantern clean in half! Wh-Who was that? I mean, it wasn’t all that much bigger than you or me! What kind of monster could do that? |
Erik | Did that really happen? Did
someone really cut that star in two? Someone…or something. Well, whatever just happened, I know I’m not going to forget it any time soon… |
Erik | It feels like a million years
ago that we took on the Slayer out in the Sands, doesn’t it? I guess a lot’s happened since then… |
Erik | I’ve got this funny feeling I’ve
been here before… Agh! My head really hurts when I try to remember! I guess it’s safer not to think about it. |
Erik | Okay, you know the plan. We’re
going to forge ourselves a new Sword of Light, and use it to take down the
Lord of Shadows. Retracing the steps of the ancient heroes sounds like a good bet if we want to find the stuff we need. |
Erik | This isn’t the Gallopolis I remember. All the life seems to have been drained out of the place. |
Erik | It’s quieter than I expected here. I guess folks have fled from the falling star. Well, I don’t blame them. |
Erik | Looks like people are starting
to calm down a little around here now the Lantern’s gone. I guess all the people who fled the city will start coming back before long, too. |
Erik | Looks like people are starting
to calm down a little around here now the Lantern’s gone. I guess all the people who fled the city will start coming back before long, too. |
Erik | Man, I’m starting to worry about
the Sultan’s finances. First he goes and sells the Rainbough, and now it
seems he was planning on selling the Forging Hammer, too… Still, if we don’t forge the Sword of Light and defeat the Lord of Shadows, his finances will be the least of the Sultan’s worries! |
Erik | Prince Faris seemed pretty keen to charge on ahead into the desert, but I don’t fancy his chances against some of the monsters out there. Let’s get after him and make sure he’s okay. |
Erik | Why the heck has the Prince gone
off to investigate that Lantern? I mean, what’s he hoping to achieve? To be honest, he’s probably better off heading in the exact opposite direction… |
Erik | We told the Sultan we were
heading into the desert, so I guess we’d better tell him we’re back. I mean, I’m not exactly sure where we’d begin to explain what we saw out there, but we should try… |
Erik | Man, I sure am glad we’re back
here. When that Lantern thing was right over our heads, I thought we were
goners for sure… Right now I’m just happy to still be alive. |
Erik | What was that word again?
Calasmos? Nope. Never heard it before, and I’m usually pretty good with
obscure stuff like that. I mean, do we even know what it is? Is it someone’s name? A city? Anyone? A little help here? |
Erik | I’m sorry, I wish I could help
but ‘Calasmos’ means nothing to me. Is it someone’s name—or is it a place, or what? I mean, if we don’t even know that much, we’re not going to get far. |
Erik | So even though the world’s
falling to pieces around them, these people are still racing horses… Well, I guess everyone needs a bit of distraction at a time like this. |
Erik | I’ve got to admire anyone who’s willing to get up on a horse and race… |
Erik | Looks like races are still going on, just like always. You know, it might be nice to take part in one or two. It’d make a change from fighting monsters, right? |
Erik | Wow, this place is way too
classy for the likes of me. I doubt I’d have a single thing in common with
any of the rich kids who go here! No, I guess I’m just more used to girls like Mia, you know? People who understand where I’m from… |
Erik | Well, I’ve definitely never seen anywhere like this before. Man, I’m really learning a lot on this trip. |
Erik | I can’t believe what the Lord of Shadows did to Mia! There’s no way he’s getting away with this! We need to find a way to get up to the Fortress of Fear, and make him pay! |
Erik | I’m getting tired of this amnesia thing. Am I ever going to get my memory back? Or am I stuck with remembering nothing for the rest of my life? |
Erik | I can’t believe the forge we
were looking for just came rising out of the lava like that! Anything we make here is going to be pretty special, that’s for sure. Come on, <pc>, let’s gather everything we need and then get forging! |
Erik | You have to hand it to Erdwin
and co. This is an impressive spot to forge a sword. I guess a regular blacksmith was never going to cut it, right? Nope, you need a whole volcano to make the Sword of Light. |
Erik | I’m not the world’s biggest
expert on lumps of ore, but you just have to look at that orichalcum to know
that it’s special. I’d even go as far as to say it’s better than anything I managed to, er, find during my glittering career as a thief. |
Erik | Well, well, <pc>. I hope
you had the kind of fun that only a puff-puff can give a man… And to think, when I first met you, butter wouldn’t melt in your mouth. Oh, how you’ve grown… (sniff) Oh man, I’m getting all emotional here! |
Erik | So this is where our Watcher pal
told us there was a big battle for control of this precious ore, right? Well, let’s hope they didn’t trash it all and that there’s enough left to forge a sword. Come on, <pc>, let’s see what we can dig up! |
Erik | …… |
Erik | Is it just me, or are the people here not being as friendly as usual…? |
Erik | That soldier we saw in our dream looked kind of sad, right? I wonder what happened to him… |
Erik | So that was your dad, down there
in the dungeon, huh? I guess you don’t remember him, right? Well, listen, we’re going to find some way of helping him out, I promise. |
Erik | Man, I wasn’t expecting you to
just show up like that back in the dungeon! Did you find out what happened to your dad? If we know what’s going on, we can do something about it. |
Erik | I guess it must be because
you’ve got your Luminary powers back—you’re looking a lot sharper than you
were. I won’t pretend to know exactly what those powers are, but I’ve already got a good feeling about them. |
Erik | Octagonia, huh? Have I been there before? Man, I just can’t remember… |
Erik | Whoa, this place has been
totally trashed. What the heck happened here? …Huh!? This is your hometown? Oh man, I’m sorry… |
Erik | I’m glad your parents are
together again. I guess they’ll be able to rest in peace now. You know, I don’t have a clue what my parents were like. But I really hope they were like yours. That’s how I want to imagine them, anyway. |
Erik | (cough) Ugh… (cough) Man, it’s
so dusty. I don’t think anyone’s been down here in a long time… (cough) |
Erik | Whoa! Are my eyes playing tricks
on me, or did you and that monster just, like, appear out of that guy!? I really have no idea what’s going on right now… |
Erik | The girls who go here all seem
to be really healthy. I guess the school dinners must be pretty
nutritious… Hm, for some reason I’ve got this faint memory of sitting in some dark corner, nibbling on a piece of stale bread… That’s all I remember, but I must have done something really bad to end up somewhere like that, right? |
Erik | Man, I hoped all that wandering around might make me remember something, but nothing so far… |
Erik | So this is Octagonia, huh? I get
this feeling I might have been here before… But I’m sure I’d remember a town that had monsters wandering the streets, though, right? |
Erik | Is it really possible for stars
to just fall out of the sky…? I guess anything’s possible now that the Lord of Shadows has risen. This kind of feels like the beginning of the end… |
Erik | Look at the sky, man… There’s
something kind of sinister about it, right? I guess anything’s possible now that the Lord of Shadows has risen. This kind of feels like the beginning of the end… |
Erik | It’s weird, but being here kind
of gives me a headache… It’s like there’s something I can’t quite remember… Like I’ve been here before… |
Erik | So you’re on a journey to find
your friends, huh? Man, they’re lucky to have people like you to come looking
for them like this. But you said I was your friend too, right? Sorry, I just can’t remember anything… |
Erik | So Jade can turn into a monster
whenever she feels like it? That’s kind of…scary, don’t you think? Um, are you sure it’s okay to have someone like that hanging round with us? |
Erik | You know, seeing monsters gambling and having fun in a casino makes me feel like they might not be that bad after all. …Erm, maybe that’s a bit weird. Ignore me. |
Erik | Man, this place is a real maze.
If we lose track of where we are, we could be stuck down here forever. But there’s something about this place that’s speaking to me, like I’ve spent some time in dank spots deep underground… |
Erik | This is really weird, man. My
heart skips a beat every time I look at the statue of that girl. It’s like it means something to me, but there’s no way that’s possible, is there…? |
Erik | You know what, man? Staring out
at the sea like this makes me wonder if it really matters who I used to be.
Maybe I should just start a new life, from scratch… Whoa, relax! Relax! I was just kidding! |
Erik | Is it really possible for stars
to just fall out of the sky…? I guess anything’s possible now that the Lord of Shadows has risen. This kind of feels like the beginning of the end… |

of gives me a headache… It’s like there’s something I can’t quite remember… Like I’ve been here before… |
Erik | What do those kids think they’re doing!? |
Erik | Let’s find out what the deal is with this monster… |
Erik | You know what, <pc>?
Having a kid with us reminds me of the time we went looking for Connie’s old
man. It seems children have kind of a hard time here in Hotto—good job we’re here to look out for them, huh? |
Erik | It’s strange. Walking round here with a kid in tow reminds me of something… But what? |
Erik | If that dragon attacked Hotto,
it wouldn’t take any prisoners. We need to do something about it before it can do any damage. |
Erik | That dragon looked like a
seriously nasty piece of work. We need to warn the folks in Hotto. I dread to think what would happen if it decided to attack the village… |
Erik | Now that Miko’s gone, there’s no one in Hotto who’d stand a chance against that dragon. It’s up to us to take care of it. |
Erik | Th-That dragon isn’t messing
around. It really ate Miko… You saw it, right? Y-You can’t seriously want to fight it, <pc>…? |
Erik | That dragon was seriously tough.
I really thought we were in trouble there… Well, we managed to send it packing, but who knows when it’ll come back. We need to be ready for it. |
Erik | Th-That dragon was terrifying,
but the way you stood up to it, it didn’t look like the first time you’d
faced beasts like that… Listen, I’m just going to leave the fighting to you guys, okay? I was scared out of my mind back there! |
Erik | That dragon used to be a person, right? Well, there’s no trace of human left in it now. I mean, we saw it eat Miko! Sounds like that was a seriously nasty curse… |
Erik | A dragon’s curse… ‘Curse’… There’s something about that word… Something that makes my blood run cold. |
Erik | The dragon may be licking its
wounds, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a threat to the people of Hotto. I’ve got a feeling we’re going to be taking it on again before long—and we need to be prepared for a tough fight… |
Erik | I’d much prefer not to ever see
that dragon again, but I guess that’s not what’s happening. Look, if we really do have to do this, let’s at least make sure we’re fully prepared… |
Erik | With the dragon out of the
picture, the folks in Hotto can finally relax. Hey, maybe the weapon and armour shops are back in business, too! Let’s see if they’ve got any good kit! |
Erik | We did good, <pc>. The
folks in Hotto can breathe a sigh of relief at long last. Now, let’s go check out the shops. I want to see if there’s any good kit for sale. |
Erik | If we throw the Guiding Light
into the volcano, an ancient forge will be reborn… Well, that’s what Miko’s maid said anyway. It sounds like something we need to check out. |
Erik | Hm. You know, I’ve got this dim memory of being here, with some little kids following us around… But when could that have been? |
Erik | That didn’t sound good… |
Erik | So according to Atsuo, Miko
never killed the dragon—she’s been hiding it all along. It sounds like we’re going to have to go speak to her ourselves if we want to get to the bottom of this… |
Erik | Can that Atsuo kid really be telling the truth? Just what is Miko plotting here? Whatever it is, I’ve got a feeling it’s not good… |
Erik | Man… I still can’t believe it.
The dragon ate Miko in a single bite… We need to do something to stop it, <pc>. Otherwise I don’t think she’ll be its last victim… |
Erik | Th-That dragon isn’t messing
around. It really ate Miko… You saw it, right? Y-You can’t seriously want to fight it, <pc>…? |
Erik | So the boy’s Atsuo and the
girl’s Atsuko, right? Or is it the other way round? |
Erik | Phew! Is it just me, or is this place hot? |
Erik | I mean, come on—human sacrifice?
That’s pretty extreme. I guess we need to find out what’s really going on before jumping to any conclusions, though… |
Erik | Man… Human sacrifice? I’m
struggling to get my head round this… I guess we can think about that later, though—first let’s find out what secrets the mountain is hiding. |
Erik | Th-That was a seriously big
dragon! Things would get pretty ugly if it ever attacked the village! We need to get back to Hotto and tell everyone what’s going on! |
Erik | Come on, <pc>! We don’t
have time to be hanging round here. We need to get back to Hotto, and
fast! We’ve got to tell everyone there’s a dragon on the loose—before it decides to let them know itself. |
Erik | If we leave that dragon to it,
it’s going to tear the village to pieces. Look, I’m not thrilled about the idea of a fight with a ferocious dragon either, but I don’t think we’ve got much choice in the matter. |
Erik | Even if the dragon used to be a
human, we can’t go getting sentimental—this isn’t a fight we can run away
from. It’s up to us to bring Miko and Ryu’s story to an end. I just wish it could be a happier one… |
Erik | So we’re going to put the dragon
out of its misery… It’s a sad story, but we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do. |
Erik | You know, coming back here is
always going to bring back memories of fighting that dragon. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear it roaring… |
Erik | You know, coming back here is
always going to bring back memories of fighting that dragon. If you close your eyes, you can almost hear it roaring… |
Erik | Fancy classrooms aren’t exactly
my natural habitat, you know. No, you don’t get pretty buildings or nice uniforms when you go to the School of Hard Knocks. |
Erik | This place is pretty impressive.
I feel smarter just hanging round here. I can’t remember where I got my education, but I have a funny feeling it wasn’t anywhere as nice as this. |
Erik | I still can’t believe what the Lord of Shadows did to Mia… All I know is that he’s going to pay. Come on, <pc>. Let’s find a way to get up to his fortress and finish the sucker for good. |
Erik | I’m getting tired of this amnesia thing. Am I ever going to get my memory back? Or am I stuck with remembering nothing for the rest of my life? |
Erik | It’s up to us to forge a new
Sword of Light, right? And it sounds like that involves retracing the steps of the old heroes who came before us… |
Erik | I can’t believe the forge we
were looking for just came rising out of the lava like that! |
Erik | ……… |
Erik | How can a star just fall from the sky? |
Erik | What’s going on? How can something like that just fall from the sky? |
Erik | Ever since the Lord of Shadows
arrived on the scene, it feels like the world’s been turned upside
down. Some folks are saying the end is nigh…and I’m worried they might have a point. |
Erik | How can something that huge just drop out of the sky? I mean, has it ever happened before? Anyone…? |
Erik | I guess we should be grateful
that thing didn’t crash into Gallopolis. It would’ve made it next to impossible to find the hammer we need to forge the Sword of Light. |
Erik | This isn’t the Gallopolis I remember. All the life seems to have been drained out of the place. |
Erik | Even the guards seem jittery,
but I guess I can’t blame them. It’s not every day a star falls from the
sky. They haven’t abandoned their posts, and that’s the main thing. |
Erik | So even though the world’s
falling to pieces around them, these people are still racing horses… Well, I guess everyone needs a bit of distraction at a time like this. |
Erik | Huh? You’re saying that if you
play Lorelei’s harp over a shining whirlpool, this ship will sink into the
sea and end up somewhere else? But…that’s crazy! I guess there’s more to this world than meets the eye… |
Erik | I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be a
burden, but I’d really appreciate it if you’d let me tag along with you for a
while. That way, I might remember something about myself. And I swear I’ll make myself useful—I’ll swab the decks, wash the dishes—anything! |
Erik | I’m sorry, <pc>… Guess
I’ve been kind of a drag these last few days. I swear I won’t let you guys
down again. I heard those monsters talking when they had me caught. Seems their boss is holed up in a golden castle to the north of the hideout. That must be where Gyldygga’s taken my sister. Come on—let’s head up there and show those sparkly scumbags who’s really the boss around here! I’ll get Mia back if it’s the last thing I do! |
Erik | It’s my fault Mia got turned to
gold all those years ago… It’s my fault Mordegon turned her into
that…thing… It’s all my fault… Which means it’s my responsibility. I have to stop her before it’s too late. Come on, <pc>. Let’s head back to the throne room. I have to… I have to finish this. |
Erik | I owe you one, <pc>. If it
wasn’t for you, I might never have been able to save Mia, or find
forgiveness. Now that it’s all over, the golden boulders blocking the roads in and out of Sniflheim will have melted, and we’ll finally be able to make our way to Arboria. Come on, let’s go get what we need to cut Mordegon down to size! I’ll be with you all the way, partner! |
Erik | What’s going on…? My heart’s beating like crazy… |
Erik | I’m sorry. I don’t mean to be a
burden, but I’d really appreciate it if you’d let me tag along with you for a
while. We used to know each other, right? If I stick with you, maybe it’ll help me get my memories back. |
Erik | That priest we met outside the
castle said he knew me. Maybe he could help me remember my past… The church is by the main gate. Can we go and see him? |
Erik | It turns people
into…gold…? This Fever… Could it…? Urrrgh… |
Erik | Man, would you look at this
place? They must have all the gold in the world in here. My sister,
too… Damn you, Gyldygga. I’m going to take you down and get Mia back if it’s the last thing I do! |
Erik | So this is a place where girls and monsters live and learn together, huh? I guess that’s kind of cool. |
Erik | A school, huh? It’s kind of
different to the places I hung out in as a kid, but I guess it’s not
bad. Mia would have loved it here… |
Erik | It looks like this school takes
students from all walks of life. Maybe one day, when she’s feeling better,
Mia might like to study here. I can see her kicking up a fuss, but it would do her good. And I’ve got a funny feeling she’d like the uniform too. …Hey! What are you looking at me like that for? I think about these things you know! I just want the best for Mia. Is that so wrong? |
Erik | Thanks for everything,
<pc>. You’ve really helped me out. I’m going to do all I can to pay you back. Not because of what the Seer told me…but because you deserve it. |
Erik | Is it really possible for stars
to just fall out of the sky…? I guess anything’s possible now that the Lord of Shadows has risen. This kind of feels like the beginning of the end… |

Erik | It’s weird, but being here kind
of gives me a headache… It’s like there’s something I can’t quite remember… Like I’ve been here before… |
Erik | This place reminds me of when
Hendrik was hot on our tail and we just made it through the Door of Departure
in the nick of time. Back then, I didn’t know if I’d even survive in the wilderness. Now I just take it in my stride. |
Erik | Hey, <pc>—is it just me,
or has Serena kind of changed since we last saw her? She always used to just tag along after her sister, but now she seems a lot more driven. I guess being forced to look out for number one has brought out her inner Veronica. |
Erik | You got your compass upside down or something, <pc>? Serena says Veronica’s back in Arboria. So what are we doing here? |
Erik | Serena really went all out with
her new haircut, huh? I bet she’d been growing that hair for years. It must
have been a real big decision to chop it all off. Anyway…I think her new look really suits her. |
Erik | What’s Veronica thinking, hiding
herself away in those woods? Doesn’t she know her poor parents are worried
sick about her? I bet she’s busy working on some new spell or something. Well all I can say is, she better not burn the whole forest down while she’s at it… |
Erik | …… I’m sorry <pc>, but could you give me some space? My head’s all over the place right now… |
Erik | It’s a long time since we’ve
seen Veronica, huh? I wonder what happened to her after the Fall. I lost my memory, and Jade turned into a monster… Who knows—maybe Veronica will have grown up again! Heh heh! |
Erik | All the time I knew Veronica, I
thought she was a stuck-up, bad-mannered, back-talking little brat. I wanted
to rib her every chance I got… But now she’s decided to play the hero, I can’t even crack a smile, let alone a joke… Dammit Veronica, how do you always find a way to get the last word? |
Erik | This place reminds me of her,
man… To be honest, I’d rather be anywhere else right now. But until we figure out how to get our hands on Cetacea, we won’t be able to defeat the Lord of Shadows. So I guess we better stick around. |
Erik | I can’t stand this place any
more… Seeing all these gloomy faces just reminds me of her… Come on, let’s follow the old guy’s advice and go look for that floating island. We could really do with a change of scenery. |
Erik | When we were waiting for you and
Serena up here, I took a quick look over the side of the cliff. Man, I nearly
blacked out when I saw how high up we were! …Not that I’m saying I’m scared of heights or anything. A drop like that would make anyone’s mind melt—even hard-headed Hendrik! |
Erik | Man, I can’t believe this whole
island is floating in the sky. Seriously, there’s a building on it and
everything! What the heck’s keeping it afloat? I guess I don’t know as much about this world as I thought I did… |
Erik | Ugh! What’s with this fog? It’s sapping my will to live. There’s no way we can keep going through this… |
Erik | Ever since the Lord of Shadows
arrived on the scene, it feels like the world’s been turned upside
down. Some folks are saying the end is nigh…and I’m worried they might have a point. |

Erik | So there used to be more of
these floating islands till the Lord of Shadows came along…? I guess he saw them as a threat. He must have wanted to destroy this Guiding Light thing, along with any hope of ending the darkness. |
Erik | Look, <pc>! Look at the
light! That’s no regular torch. There’s something about it—something reassuring, something that promises to keep you safe… |
Erik | Those people in the vision we
saw… They must have been Erdwin and his companions, right? Let’s check out the other seedlings. Maybe we can find out how they managed to defeat the Dark One. |
Erik | Something about Erdwin reminded
me of you, <pc>. I’m not talking about his face or his hair or anything. I just mean…there was something about him, you know? |
Erik | You know what we have to do,
right, <pc>? If we want to defeat the Lord of Shadows, we’re going to
have to forge a new Sword of Light. As long as we follow in the first Luminary’s footsteps, we’re sure to find what we need. Okay, man. Once you’re ready, let’s hit the road! |
Erik | We’ve got a sword, we’ve got a
ride—what more do we need!? Lord of Shadows, here we come! It’s time to bring this story to an end, <pc>. Let’s saddle up and head for that floating fortress. We need to make that monster pay for what he’s done! |
Erik | Ugh! What’s with this fog? It’s sapping my will to live. There’s no way we can keep going through this… |

Erik | So the kids who study here have
to live in school dormitories, huh? It sounds about as appealing as being locked in a castle dungeon to me, but I guess if they grow up to be fine, upstanding citizens, that’s fair enough… |
Erik | That Watcher we met spoke about
the Guiding Light, a flame that had burned since the dawn of time… So unless anyone’s got any brighter ideas, I think we should head back up there and check it out. |
Erik | It’s up to us to forge a new
Sword of Light, right? And it sounds like that involves retracing the steps of the old heroes who came before us… |
Erik | Well, it’s been one heck of a
journey, but we’ve still got one last thing to do. And you know what that is,
don’t you? Make the Lord of Shadows wish he’d never been born. Come on, <pc>! Let’s do this! |
Erik | Ever since the Lord of Shadows
arrived on the scene, it feels like the world’s been turned upside
down. Some folks are saying the end is nigh…and I’m worried they might have a point. |

Erik | Mordegon’s pathetic. He sends
his minions to do his dirty work while he just sits back and watches. Well, he’s going to get a rude awakening when we catch up with him. We’re a lot tougher than we were last time we met. |
Erik | Mordegon’s pathetic. He sends
his minions to do his dirty work while he just sits back and watches. Well, he’s going to get a rude awakening when we catch up with him. We’re a lot tougher than we were last time we met. |
Erik | When we beat Jasper, it reminded
me of what happened with Mia. That’s what Mordegon does—he finds some
darkness in people’s hearts and uses it to turn them into his puppets. Come on, <pc>. He can’t be allowed to get away with this any more. It’s time to finish it. |

students from all walks of life.
Erik | I can’t stop thinking about Mia,
but I’ve got to stay focused… The best thing I can do for her—the best thing I can do for anyone—is to take down Mordegon and make this a world worth living in again. When she finally opens her eyes, I don’t want her to see this darkness. I want her to see blue skies. That’s what I’m fighting for. |

Erik | Listen, I know this might sound
kind of stupid, but there’s something I need to say. We’ve done a heck of a lot of travelling, but you know what? There’s never been a dull moment. Thanks, <pc>. I’ve had a blast. |
Erik | Listen, I know this might sound
kind of stupid, but there’s something I need to say. We’ve done a heck of a lot of travelling, but you know what? There’s never been a dull moment. Thanks, <pc>. I’ve had a blast. |
Erik | Hey, <pc>. Remember when
Cetacea took us all home after we defeated Mordegon? Well, I just remembered that I looked down and spotted something south of Octagonia, something glowing… I reckon it’d be a good idea to check it out. You in? |
Erik | It’s a shame we never got to see
Veronica in her true form. I wonder if she looked anything like Serena? |
Erik | If there’s even the smallest chance we can bring Veronica back, we have to try! |
Erik | Sorry, I don’t have much to say right now. I’ve got…a few things on my mind, that’s all. |
Erik | Listen, about what happened back
in the tower… There’s stuff I’d like to say, but I’m not the type for
emotional speeches. I think it’s best if you just get going, <pc>… |
Erik | Come on, let’s get back to the tower. Veronica’s going to be wondering what’s keeping us! |
Erik | It must be nice to have a hometown to come back to. Cobblestone’s got something special about it, that’s for sure. |
Erik | The Vikings have been lying low
ever since that outbreak of Gold Fever. I’ve thought about paying them back for all that me and Mia suffered, but you know what? I’ve got better things to do. You’ve got to let this stuff go. Isn’t that what your grandfather wrote in that letter? That you shouldn’t waste your life bearing grudges? I guess he knew what he was talking about. |
Erik | You know something, <pc>? You should stop worrying about other people just for once and think about what’s best for you. |
Erik | I want to show Mia the world.
After all, she’s never seen anything outside of this frozen
wasteland… Maybe one day I’ll take her to Cobblestone. I’ve got a feeling she’d love your mother’s stew, <pc>. |
Erik | Mia is back to her old self, but I guess it’ll take her a while before she wants to travel anywhere. She’s happier sticking with what she knows for now. |
Erik | I’m impressed, <pc>. You
weren’t afraid to dress up and strut your stuff. I’ve got to be honest, that kind of thing isn’t for me. No, I guess my pride wouldn’t allow me to dress like that… |
Erik | So Sylvando’s real name is Norberto? You learn something every day… |
Erik | I know it’s tough, but we’ve still got places we need to go. Once you’ve said all you have to say to your folks, we should hit the road. |
Erik | You know, I can’t even remember
what my folks looked like… I wonder what they’d say if they met me and Mia now—I like to think they’d be proud of us. |
Erik | That glowing light I saw was
somewhere to the south of Octagonia. We should go check it out, it’s not so far from here. My treasure hunting instincts tell me it might be something interesting… |
Erik | I bet Veronica would have plenty to complain about if she were here now… You know what, though? Things aren’t as interesting without her. |
Erik | We’ve got to check out that old
tower I saw to the north of Yggdrasil. Why don’t we take Cetacea and go have a look? Unless you’ve got somewhere you’d rather be, of course… |
Erik | Well, we know what we have to do, right? We need to climb that tower and bring Veronica back! |
Erik | This is like the land time forgot—there’s just this one huge tower in the middle of nowhere, and not a soul around… |
Erik | We’ve found ourselves a tower,
but I can’t see any of these Spirits of Lost Time that are supposed to guide
us. Well, unless anyone’s got any better ideas, I guess we need to take a closer look at this old thing… |
Erik | You’re not having second
thoughts are you, <pc>? We’re not going to stand in your way, you
know. It’s time for you to save the world all over again. Now get to work! |
Erik | This place is quite something. I just wonder what’s powering it all… |
Erik | ……… |
Erik | Peace is great and all, but it can wear a bit thin. I find myself craving some excitement sometimes. |
Erik | How about we get Cetacea to take
us up north of Yggdrasil to check out that old tower? All this stuff about the Spirits of Lost Time doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, but it’s got to be worth finding out more. |
Erik | Now we’ve got the door open, we know what we have to do. Let’s climb the tower and see if we can’t figure out a way of bringing Veronica back. |
Erik | Hey, don’t worry about me, man.
I think you should be checking that Jade is alright. She’s a tough customer, but it can’t be easy for her seeing her home in ruins. |
Erik | Do you remember when we met
Veronica for the first time? She seemed to think I was a complete
idiot. I guess our relationship did kind of get off on the wrong foot… Still, we ended up getting along pretty well. |
Erik | Gah, I’m not built for this heat. Is anyone else starting to feel dizzy…? |
Erik | Prince Faris hasn’t changed a bit. He still acts like he hasn’t got a care in the world. I wish I could be a bit more like that… |
Erik | So, you think you can be a champion jockey, <pc>? It should be a piece of cake, right? I mean, you saved the world after all. |
Erik | I’ll never understand why anyone
would sign up for a contest like that Signor Universo thing. Being the centre of attention sure isn’t my idea of fun. I’ll always feel more comfortable lurking in the shadows than standing in the spotlight. Once a thief, always a thief, I guess. |
Erik | Few things get my heart racing like a casino. I mean, it’s all just so unpredictable, right? We might walk out of here millionaires, <pc>! |
Erik | Did you see that, <pc>?
That statue of Hendrik still has Booga’s stupid head stuck on it. I guess if the folks in this town like it that way, who am I to tell them they’re wrong? |
Erik | I could never live in a place like this. I’d be bored to death. |
Erik | I still can’t quite get used to breathing underwater. It just feels a bit wrong. |
Erik | I know it sounds funny, but I
really can’t remember much about that time I lost my memory. I guess I wasn’t at my best—sorry if I caused any trouble. |
Erik | So if you’d grown up in
Dundrasil, you’d probably have come up here to train, right? You know, it’s probably better you didn’t have to do it. I’m not sure you’d have suited the shaved head look… |
Erik | Now the world’s not in danger, it’s great to hang round nice, quiet places like this. We’ve earned some down time. |
Erik | Mordegon hurt so many people and destroyed so much. It’ll take a long time for the wounds to heal. |
Erik | When I was a kid, I used to look at Sniflheim Castle and imagine what it was like inside. Now I get to wander around it whenever I want. I still can’t really believe it… |
Erik | It’s a shame we couldn’t have defeated Mordegon before he attacked the Watchers. Now there’s just one of them left. He must be kind of lonely… |
Erik | Hey, where did you go? Father
Benedictus was talking to us, and then you just disappeared. This isn’t the time to start getting flaky on us. We’re finally heading to Yggdrasil, remember? |
Erik | Want to hear something weird?
This doesn’t feel like the first time I’ve been to Yggdrasil with you. It’s strange, right? I mean, we’ve been through so much to get here, and now I feel like I’ve seen it all before… |
Erik | So we beat Jasper and got the
Sword of Light. This is almost too easy… In fact, we’ve still got some time until the party starts. How about we go see the Elder before heading over to Heliodor? |
Erik | So this is it. We finally made
it to Yggdrasil… And now we’re going to see it up close, the place where all life began… But you know what, <pc>? You’re looking tougher than you’ve ever looked before. Whatever’s waiting for us there, I know you’ll be able to handle it. |
Erik | The Heart of Yggdrasil, the
source of all life… Sounds pretty amazing, right? Come on, <pc>, let’s get going. I can’t wait to see it! |
Erik | When I was locked up in that
dingy cell, I never thought I’d ever be guest of honour at Heliodor
Castle. I can’t wait to see the look on the guards’ faces when they see me! Heh heh! This is going to be sweet! |
Erik | …‘Do not think you are the
only one who has defied the flow of time…’ Any idea what Mordegon meant by that, <pc>? |
Erik | That rat! It was all a trick!
King Carnelian held that banquet just to lure us to the castle! Come on, let’s get him! He can’t have gone far! |
Erik | Um, I don’t think we’re going to find the monster who was pretending to be King Carnelian out here… |
Erik | You know, I still can’t get my
head round it. One minute I’m a small-time thief locked up in the dungeons,
and the next minute I’m fighting alongside Sir Hendrik himself. I guess life’s funny like that, though, right? And I’m not going to complain about having him on board—he knows what he’s doing with a sword, that’s for sure. |
Erik | I wonder how much it costs the
girls to study here. I’m guessing with full bed and board, it’d be a little
out of my price range. …Hang on! Don’t get the wrong idea! I’m not saying I want to enrol! But I know someone who might… |
Erik | The Seer told me that if I found
the Orb, I’d meet the Luminary somewhere deep underground… And that if I
helped him, I’d finally be forgiven… There’s no mistaking it, man. The Seer who said all that stuff was the same one we met on the Emerald Coast. Except he was a guy when I saw him… I owe him—or her—a lot. I needed a bit of guidance in life back then. |
Erik | It sounded like that Watcher had
something to give you, <pc>. I guess we’d better head to the Temple of
Dawn like he told us to! With a name like that, it’s got to be the biggest building in town. It shouldn’t be hard to find. |
Erik | Well, we’ve found two of the
seedlings. That means there’s just one to go. I guess we should go see if the Watchers can point us in the right direction. Unless you’ve got a better plan, that is… |
Erik | Well, we’ve found one of the
seedlings. That means there are two to go. Unless you’ve got a better plan, I think we should see if the Watchers can point us in the right direction. |
Erik | It sounds like there are another
three seedlings down on the surface somewhere. The only problem is, we don’t have the first clue where to find them. Let’s see if the Watchers can point us in the right direction. |
Erik | The Seer told us we’d need the
power of the Watchers if we’re going to get to Serenica… And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that when he says something, he means it. So let’s go see what the Watchers have to say! |
Erik | So the Wheel of Time will get us
into Serenica’s tower, right? Looks like it’s all coming together… With any luck, Serenica will be able to help us power up Cetacea. Now let’s get going! |
Erik | So you and the Dark One have
some kind of weird connection, huh? If I understood the Elder right,
defeating him will break the cycle of light and dark and get rid of him for
good… Well, whatever. We’re going to finish this anyhow. We won’t let the Elder down. |
Erik | That Watcher said he had
something to give us in the Temple of Dawn. It seems it’s the big building right in the middle of the island. We should head over and see what he’s got. |
Erik | Okay man, we know what we have
to do! We have to defeat the Dark One and break the cycle of light and dark
that brought him back in the first place! We know where he is, so let’s take Cetacea and head to the dark star. It’s time to finish this! |
Erik | Rab must know this place like
the back of his hand, right? He trained here when he was young. It must have been tough for him, going from a life of luxury in Dundrasil to living up a mountain and getting shouted at all the time… |
Erik | I guess Serenica is waiting for
us at the top of the tower, right? Is anyone else feeling a little
nervous? I mean, it’s not every day you get to meet one of the ancient heroes of legend… |
Erik | I’m pretty sure that’s the tower where Serenica is. If we use the Wheel of Time the Elder gave us, we should be able to get inside. |
Erik | Wow! Look at that huge hourglass
in the centre of the tower! It’s weird, watching the sand fall. It feels like all the time that has passed is right here, somehow… …Sorry, I’m not sure where that came from. It was just a thought that came into my head. Just ignore me, okay? |
Erik | Sure, I had Derk as a partner in
crime, but I was basically a lone wolf when I was younger. I definitely wasn’t cut out for boarding school, that’s for sure. I don’t know how these girls do it. |
Erik | You’ll never guess what one of
the students handed me, man—a love letter! You’d think they’d have other
things to worry about, right? Like the end of the world? But I guess life goes on, and maybe silly stuff like this helps them keep their minds off more serious things. And you know, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t kind of flattered… |
Erik | Cobblestone was razed to the
ground, but at least there weren’t any casualties. That’s something. Now everyone’s busy rebuilding their lives, it’s up to us to do all we can to support them. |
Erik | Derk’s shop’s going to be
stocked with exotic stuff imported from all over the world, by the sounds of
it. The people of Cobblestone are going to love it! He’s going to be a big success here, I’m sure of it. Good on him for doing his bit to help the village. I’m kind of proud of him, man. |
Erik | First Derk ties the knot, and
now you… It seems I’m the last man standing. Well, that’s fine by me. Marriage is more trouble than it’s worth if you’re a lone wolf kind of guy… |
Erik | You know, I’ve always liked
Cobblestone. The air’s fresh and there’s plenty of nice stuff to look
at. Settling down here might be just what I need. I’ve always been on the move, but it might be time for me to slow down and relax a little. |
Erik | You know, I’ve always liked
Cobblestone. The air’s fresh and there’s plenty of nice stuff to look
at. Speaking of which, why don’t we take a stroll to the top of Cobblestone Tor? I’ve always wanted to check it out. |
Erik | I’ve got to say, I never thought
you’d choose to live with Veronica. I mean, you guys never struck me as getting along particularly well, but I guess they do say opposites attract—you might be a good match after all! |
Erik | You and Serena, huh? Didn’t see
that one coming. Well, one thing’s for sure: you’re gonna need to take the lead sometimes, otherwise nothing’s going to get done. |
Erik | Sylv’s a man of the world, so
he’s got to be pretty handy around the house too, right? And he’s such an entertainer… You’re going to be smiling at least twice as much as you used to! |
Erik | Some of the bruises Jade gave me
at the Masked Martial Arts tournament still haven’t healed… I’d be careful if I were you. Who knows what moves she’ll unleash on you if you get on her bad side… |
Erik | It’s great to see you living
with Rab, <pc>—grandfather and grandson, reunited under the same
roof! Just make sure you enjoy it while you can, okay? Family shouldn’t be taken for granted. |
Erik | I’ve got to say, I really can’t imagine living with Hendrik… Can the guy even cook? |
Erik | Come back to see where your
adventure started, huh? You’ve been through a heck of a lot since then, but I guess you’re never going to forget where it all began. |
Erik | Why don’t we go and have some
fun once we’re done with this saving-the-world business? First on my list: tons of treasure hunting. There’s still so much out there just waiting for my warm, loving embrace. I might need your help, of course, but don’t worry. I’ll make sure you get your fair share! |
Erik | There isn’t a monster in all of
Erdrea that could beat Erik and the legendary Luminary! Come on, let’s keep moving—I want to go all the way to the top of this tor. |
Erik | It’s kind of weird, right? If
I’d never met the Seer, I might never have known that my destiny was to join
you. I might never have fought beside the Luminary on a quest to save the world… I guess you never know quite how life’s going to pan out, huh? It’s never boring, that’s for sure! |
Erik | I never had anyone around when I
was a kid, so I can’t really imagine what it would be like to have a mum and
dad. Seeing how happy Jade and her old man look when they’re together, though, it makes me feel like I might be missing out. |
Erik | Well, I guess if you can forgive
Jasper, I’m not going to bear a grudge. There’s no sense dwelling on the past. He did what he did, and there’s nothing anyone can do to change that. |
Erik | Whatever Hendrik and Jasper have got going on, they’re going to have to sort it out between themselves. I’m staying out of this. |
Erik | Mordegon really is a piece of
work. He uses the darkness in people’s hearts to turn them into his
puppets. Gah, it’s just not right! I mean, I’m not exactly Jasper’s biggest fan, but no one deserves this… |
Erik | Great, as if we didn’t have
enough to worry about, now we’ve got ourselves a weird black shadow haunting
Heliodor Castle. At least we can count on you not to panic about it—you always know how to keep a cool head in a crisis. |
Erik | So let me guess, you’re missing
the good old days when we were hanging out in the slums together? Maybe we should put our hoods back on and pretend we’re on the run. Just for old times’ sake. |
Erik | Do you remember when we met
Veronica for the first time? She seemed to think I was a complete
idiot. I guess our relationship did kind of get off on the wrong foot… Still, we ended up getting along pretty well. |
Erik | It’s pretty amazing to think
that Miko still loved her son even after he turned into a dragon. I guess a mother’s love isn’t something I’m ever going to fully understand… |
Erik | Gah, that thing is huge! Looking
at it from a distance was bad enough, but up close it’s even nastier! Look, man, whatever that dark star is, it’s giving off some seriously bad vibes. Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. |
Erik | This isn’t the Gallopolis I
remember. All the life seems to have been drained out of the place. Well, I guess I can’t blame people for wanting to get away from that thing. If I was in their shoes, I’d probably do the same. |
Erik | Coming to Gondolia makes me
think of the time Jasper caught me and trussed me up like a turkey. At first I thought the game might be up, but I never gave up hope. I always had faith that a certain someone was going to come to the rescue! Heh heh! |
Erik | It looks like most people have
fled from Gondolia, but that doesn’t mean we can just let the monsters
overrun it. We need to fight back, and fast! |
Erik | Do you know something? Coming to
Octagonia makes the bruises Jade gave me start aching all over again. I mean, I was going easy on her and she totally took advantage of my better nature. That’ll teach me to be a gentleman. |
Erik | So this is where Arachtagon
trussed up the fighters and drained them of their essence… I never quite worked out what that ‘essence’ was meant to be, though. It wasn’t their sweat, surely? Well, whatever it was, Vince used to drink it and… You know what? I’m going to stop there. I’m starting to gross myself out. |
Erik | Ah, Zwaardsrust! You remember
when we got that orb that was hidden in the ruins? Well, call it a thief’s intuition, but I’ve got a funny feeling there’s more treasure in this kingdom, just waiting for us to find it… |
Erik | Remember Cetacea told us that
Drustan awaits us beneath Zwaardsrust? She said something about a trial,
right? It might be an idea to check it out and see if we can build up some experience. Anything to give us more of a chance against the Dark One… |
Erik | So it sounds like Rab’s got a
plan to rebuild Dundrasil once this is all over… But there’s something I’m curious about. I mean, you’re royalty, right? You’re heir to the throne. Well, are you planning on becoming king, or what? And would Gemma be your queen? I mean, I don’t want to put any pressure on you, but it sounds like you’ve got some serious thinking to do about your future… |
Erik | This is where Rab told you he
was your grandad, right? I remember your jaw hitting the floor. Maybe you were imagining someone tall and dashing and noble-looking. Well, I hope it taught you not to judge a book by its cover. |
Erik | That must have been pretty heavy going for you, man… I think Rab’s having a tough time dealing with it too. I think we should give him a little space. |
Erik | Wow… It doesn’t look like anyone’s been down here for a while… I mean, look at all this dust! (cough) |
Erik | I never knew my old man, but I
know how important it is to be on good terms with your father. I’m glad
Sylvando and Don Rodrigo managed to put the past behind them. Now, I guess we’d better hit the road. Nice though this place is, we won’t deal with that dark star sitting round here. |
Erik | I never knew my old man, but I
know how important it is to be on good terms with your father. I’m glad
Sylvando and Don Rodrigo managed to put the past behind them. Never mind that now, though—we’ve got a trial to do. We’re heading to the Kingsbarrow, right? Hey, remember when we sneaked in there to recover my orb? Ah, those were the days… |
Erik | Sylvando and Hendrik are old
pals? Wow… I really didn’t see that one coming. And that’s not all. The big news is that Sylvando’s real name is…Norberto! Heh. I can see why he chose to change that… |
Erik | Hey, I’m not going to question the guys who come up with these trials, but making those things out of gold seems kind of a waste. I mean, you could melt them down, sell the gold and make a killing… |
Erik | I always thought this was an
impressive spot. It really looks like the kind of place knights would use for
trials, you know? Being here is always going to bring back memories of us coming here to claim my orb, though. It feels like a million years ago now, doesn’t it? |
Erik | Hey, it looks like there are new
prizes just waiting for us to get our hands on them! Some of that stuff’s sure to come in handy. Let’s see what’s on offer! |
Erik | If I’d been born here, I guess
I’d be a fisherman by now. I’d never have had to become a thief. Then I would never have been arrested, never been locked up, and I’d never have met you… I’d choose this life any day! |
Erik | There’s something about this
place that makes it feel like time has slowed right down. Maybe this is what
it’s like to be a mermaid… Sorry, ignore me. I was just thinking out loud. |
Erik | The folks in Phnom Nonh got kind
of a raw deal, huh? I wouldn’t want to be forced to dance like that. First it was a cursed painting, then the dancing. Some people just can’t get a break, I guess. |
Erik | Sure, the villagers are dancing,
but it doesn’t look like they’re enjoying it very much. There’s something
fishy about this. How about we find out what’s really going on, since we’re here and all? |
Erik | Do you remember the first time
we went inside that painting? I remember thinking that was pretty crazy at
the time. Thinking back, though, we’ve done plenty of even weirder things since then… |
Erik | Hey, I’m sorry I was so cagey. I
should’ve told you I grew up here, but what with everything that happened
with Mia, I just didn’t want to go into it. Anyway, that’s all over now. We’ve got bigger fish to fry—starting with that star! Come on, let’s go knock it out of the sky! |
Erik | Sniflheim, huh? Actually,
there’s…um… There’s this thing I wanted to tell you… …No. Forget it. Now’s not the time. Pretend I didn’t say anything. |
Erik | Ah, this place brings back some
memories. Remember when the witch tricked us into thinking she was the Queen?
And when we ran into Hendrik out here in the forest? Who would have thought we’d all end up on the same side one day? I guess you never know how things are going to pan out. |
Erik | You know, last time we were here
I decided to flick through this big dusty tome about astronomy… I thought it was going to go way over my head, but in the end, I read it all the way through. I never thought books were my thing, but it turns out learning is kind of fun. Now, what will I read next…? |
Erik | It’s so good to see Mia back to
her old self: Straight-talking and taking absolutely no nonsense—I wouldn’t
have her any other way. I owe you one, <pc>. You’ve given me something more precious than any treasure. I’ll repay you for this, I promise. Wherever you go, I’ll be right beside you. To the end. |
Erik | ……… Listen, there’s no rush or anything, but there is somewhere I’d like to visit when we get the chance. It’s the cave where I used to live with the Vikings. You can get there from Sniflheim by boat. There’s a door there that I’ve been too frightened to open, but I think the time’s finally come… |
Erik | Hey, remember that time when we
were talking to the Elder here and you just decided to disappear without
saying a word? It’s weird, but when you came back, it felt like there was something different about you. It’s hard to explain—it was almost like you’d done a lot of growing up. But it’s not like you were gone for that long. I still can’t work it out… |
Erik | The High Lama is pretty
impressive for a kid—I mean, he’s second in command after Grand Master
Pang. I guess he isn’t a regular little boy, though, right? He can definitely look after himself. Maybe we should challenge him to a fight sometime. |
Erik | It’s amazing how they’ve built this whole place on a cliff edge. I guess folks in the olden days really knew what they were doing. |
Erik | Rab said some creepy stuff about
there being a way to enter this kind of void between life and death. I don’t know about you, man, but I’m a bit too long in the tooth to believe in dumb ghost stories… |
Erik | Whatever’s making the monsters act crazy, we need to put a stop to it, and fast. This kingdom might not survive otherwise. |
Erik | There’s something about the sea
breeze and the sound of the waves that makes me nostalgic about my
childhood. I mean, I didn’t have a lot of fun and there are a lot of painful memories, but somehow gazing out at the sea makes them all disappear. |
Erik | The way your mind works is kind
of amazing. I’d never have worked out that we needed to forge the Sword of
Light ourselves. You don’t think the way a regular person thinks, but then I guess you’re just not a regular person. I’ve learned a lot from you, <pc>, I really have. |
Erik | Man, I thought my jaw was going
to drop through the floor when I saw the forge rising out of the lava. Imagine what we could forge here if we had the right materials! I mean, if there’s anything you want to try making, I’m totally up for helping out! |
Erik | So Miko was right. There is a
forge up here. Whoever built it sure knew how to pick a dramatic location,
huh? The question is, though, how did they even manage it? How did they harness the power of the volcano? Well, I’m pretty impressed, that’s all I’ll say. |
Erik | Call it a thief’s intuition, but
I get the feeling there’s some amazing treasure up here. Come on, let’s see if we can sniff it out! |
Erik | Gah, I’m covered in sweat! I was raised in a cold climate, man. I’m not built for places like this. |
Erik | Wow, this place is seriously weird. Is it just me, or is anyone else getting dizzy? |
Erik | Heh heh! You know what? I can
smell treasure! Anything Drustan left lying here, we’ll happily claim. I mean, it’d be a shame for it to go to waste, right? |
Erik | This seems like a good spot to
use as a base when we’re exploring Drustan’s labyrinth. It’s got a shop and
everything. Let’s take a minute to catch our breath before pushing on. |
Erik | So let me get this straight.
This isn’t the same Watchers’ village we visited before, is it? Or is
it? Well, wherever we are, let’s make sure we speak to everyone we can. |
Erik | The monsters in the Trial of the
Disciple sure are a lot tougher than the ones up above… The Watchers say that it’s the simplest trial, but there’s no way that’s true. I mean, how much harder could things get? |
Erik | Let’s not push ourselves too
much, man. The end’s not even in sight just yet. What’s the point of all that
training if we end up dropping dead? If things are looking hairy, we should head back to the village and rest up. |
Erik | Was that really him? Drustan?
Well, he certainly looked the part, I guess. Well, whatever he’s prepared for our final trial, I think it’s safe to say it’s not going to be easy. But we’re not going to let it beat us, are we? |
Erik | Hah… Hah… I’m not sure I can take much more of this… |
Erik | That was Cetacea’s voice, right?
Something real bad must’ve happened if she’s reaching out to us… Let’s hurry up and head for the Tower of Lost Time! |
Erik | …… |
