Serena | We need to get back to the
labyrinth. If we don’t, I dread to think how those monsters might misuse my
sister’s magical powers… We simply must recover Veronica’s magic and get her back to her old self! Even if she is rather adorable as she is… |
Serena | Um, <pc>…? I believe my
sister wants you to help her with something. It’s not really my place to insist, of course, but I know what happens when Veronica gets angry… |
Serena | Are we going for a little walk,
<pc>? I think that’s a simply wonderful idea—but I’m worried Veronica
will disagree. She’s always getting annoyed at me for wandering off when I’m supposed to be doing something else. I wouldn’t want her to get annoyed at you too! Hee hee! |
Serena | My sister and I visited
Gallopolis before we met you. It’s rather a fun place—there are certainly a
lot more people than there are in Hotto. When we get there, I think we all deserve a little rest, don’t you? We’ve been through a lot… |
Serena | I remember when we first came
here, we thought it was delightful. Our plan was to stay for a little while
and enjoy the bathhouse. Well, maybe we can try again once Veronica has her magic powers back. Oh, I can’t wait to really relax and unwind! |
Serena | We know we have to get to
Yggdrasil, but I’m afraid we just don’t know how. I suppose the best hope we have is to do as Erik suggests and speak to Noah… |
Serena | I know you probably didn’t
expect to be joining forces with a pair of rather mismatched twins, but
destiny can bring together curious companions. All who journey alongside the Luminary are surely chosen by Yggdrasil. Hee hee! I’m ever so excited! |
Serena | I confess, I’d almost given up
hope. It’s such a relief to find my sister safe and well! I’m sure she’ll be back to her old self in no time once her magical powers are restored! Come on, <pc>! Let’s push on! |
Serena | It’s a shame that Veronica
couldn’t go back to how she was, but I suppose I’ll just have to get used to
having a twin sister half my size! And don’t worry, <pc>—no matter how big or small we are, you can rely on us to protect you! |
Serena | Thinking of poor Veronica locked
up here makes me shudder. Still, there’s something about caves and tunnels that I can’t resist. I just love wandering around them—I have a feeling that you and I are very alike in that regard, <pc>! |
Serena | …Oh! Erm, where are we
exactly? I’m afraid I must have been daydreaming. We should really hurry back to the labyrinth as soon as we can, though. Goodness knows what awful things those monsters might be doing with my sister’s magical powers… |
Serena | We visited Gallopolis before we
met you, <pc>. It’s a marvellous place. But I don’t suppose we have time for sightseeing this time round. Let’s go to the palace and find out if what Noah told us was true. |
Serena | Veronica and I came here when we
were looking for you, <pc>. We couldn’t believe how lively it
was! To get to the castle, you have to climb the central staircase then go round. Gallopolis is very big, so let’s be careful not to get lost! |
Serena | Gosh, this really is a
marvellous place! No wonder Gallopolis is world-famous! Now, let’s see what the Sultan has to tell us about this branch from Yggdrasil! |
Serena | Um, <pc>, you wouldn’t
happen to be lost, would you?<yesno> Well, don’t worry. I got lost when I first came here too! To get to the palace, we’ll need to go back into the town, climb the central staircase and then go round. Oh! Does this mean you’re planning on taking part in a horse race, then? Gosh! Well, best of luck! Oh! Does this mean you’re planning on taking part in a horse race, then? Gosh! Well, best of luck! |
Serena | Veronica and I have already
travelled through this desert once. It was back when we were looking for you,
<pc>. Of course, Veronica didn’t look like a little girl back then. Ha ha! A lot’s changed, hasn’t it? |
Serena | I feel a lot safer out here now
Mr Sylvando has joined us. I mean, you saw him at the circus—not to mention
the Sand National! He’s clearly ever so talented… Yes, the Slayer of the Sands sounds terrifying, but I know we’ll be able to capture it with Mr Sylvando on our side! |
Serena | The Slayer of the Sands sounds rather fearsome, I must say. Let’s make sure we’re properly prepared before facing it. |
Serena | I wonder where Mr Sylvando
went… I know he was only with us for a little while, but I really feel we’d
have been lost without him. Still, I mustn’t think about that now. We need to follow Prince Faris back to Gallopolis, and get the Rainbough from the Sultan! |
Serena | I feel a lot less anxious about
the journey ahead now that we have Mr Sylvando along with us—and I’m sure
we’re going to have a lot more fun, too! I mean, I have fond memories of when it was just Veronica and me, but it really is true what they say about travelling—the more the merrier! |
Serena | It’s a good job Prince Faris
came along when he did. I thought the Sultan was going to refuse to listen to
us! By the way, <pc>, did you hear the Prince’s Pledge? It was terribly impressive, wasn’t it? It sounds like the desert knights of Gallopolis are as amazing as everyone says they are! |
Serena | I’ve never been to the circus
before! It’s all terribly exciting… I do wonder about this favour Prince Faris wants to ask us, though. I mean, is he really going to just give us the Rainbough? He did say it was a priceless royal treasure… |
Serena | Gosh! Everyone seems so excited!
It looks as though the whole kingdom is looking forward to the Sand
National! Now, Prince Faris told us the stables were in the western part of the city, didn’t he? I know the circumstances are a little unusual, <pc>, but I’ll still be praying that you romp home in first place! |
Serena | It sounds as though the entire
kingdom is cheering you on, <pc>! Well, it’s Prince Faris they’re
cheering really, but still… Anyway, we need to get hold of that Rainbough, so there’s no need to feel bad about deceiving people. Come on—I know you can do this! |
Serena | You’d never have guessed that Mr
Sylvando was a last minute replacement. He was so fast, but he looked as
though he was barely trying! I wonder where he learnt to do all these amazing things? I mean, first the circus performance, and now this… |
Serena | It’s a shame the Slayer of the
Sands had to appear when everyone was in such a jolly mood, but there’s
nothing we can do about that. What we CAN do is make sure the horrible thing doesn’t cause any more mayhem. Please, <pc>! We have to help these poor people! |
Serena | Prince Faris is being forced to
live a lie, and all because he doesn’t want to let his parents or his people
down. I can’t help but feel sorry for him. I mean, imagine the kind of pressure you’d feel, growing up a prince and knowing all the expectations people had of you! |
Serena | Gosh… It feels like everyone’s eyes are on us now that we’re with Mr Sylvando. He really is a star turn here… |
Serena | When the Slayer of the Sands
broke free of its chains, I feared the worst. I really didn’t think Prince
Faris would be brave enough to face it alone! That wasn’t the most surprising thing, though. Did you see Mr Sylvando with that sword? And he seemed to know all about the Knight’s Pledge, too… He’s fascinating, isn’t he? I hope we’ll get the chance to meet again someday! |
Serena | Prince Faris said the Rainbough
was a priceless royal treasure, but he’s going to ask his father to give it
to us! What a kind-hearted, generous young man! We could all learn something from him, don’t you think, Veronica…? |
Serena | We can’t let the Slayer of the
Sands continue its reign of terror! Let’s go to Prince Faris’s chambers and see what he has to say on the matter. |
Serena | Oh! I know why we’ve come back
here! You wanted to say hello to the palace cats, didn’t you,
<pc>? Hee hee! Don’t worry, I understand. I find it very soothing to be around them as well. |
Serena | The Sand National’s all done and
dusted, but there are still races taking place! Horses don’t seem to get much
rest around here! If you’re planning on entering another race, I’ll be cheering you on! |
Serena | Gosh! So the horse races are
still taking place in spite of the Slayer of the Sands! The people here know how to stay calm in a crisis, don’t they? I suppose that must be the influence of the desert knights. |
Serena | Are you taking part in a race, <pc>? Well, all the best! You know I’ll be cheering you on! |
Serena | It was a while ago now, but my
sister and I used to travel around like this, back when we were looking for
you, <pc>. Of course, Veronica didn’t look like a little girl back then. Ha ha! A lot’s changed, hasn’t it? |
Serena | After all we went through in
Gallopolis, we still didn’t manage to get hold of the Rainbough. I’m beginning to wonder if we’ll ever be able to find it… |
Serena | Oh, this place couldn’t be more
different from Arboria! It almost feels as though we’re on holiday! Um… I don’t suppose you’d mind if I did a spot of shopping while we’re here? I bet the shops here sell all sorts of interesting things. Oh dear… Hee hee! You can tell I’m a country girl, can’t you? I’m sorry—I’ll try to look a little less excited! |
Serena | Oh! Look at all this beautiful
clear water! It’s such a nice change after the deserts of Gallopolis. Wait a second, though—I hope you don’t mind me asking this but…are we lost? |
Serena | Ah, there were so many tasty treats back in Gondolia! If I close my eyes I can almost smell them… |
Serena | I’m sure we’ll be able to lift
that poor boy’s curse with a drop of birdsong nectar, but we’re going to need
some pure water! Hmm? Oh, don’t worry about making it. You can leave that to me. I’m not bad at concocting potions, even if I do say so myself! |
Serena | Birdsong nectar is famous back
home in Arboria. Bards with sore throats take one little dose and they’re
able to sing beautifully again. I’m absolutely certain that it’ll bring that poor boy’s voice back. In fact, I think it might make him sound better than before! |
Serena | Oh, poor Erik! I just hope that
awful Jasper hasn’t done something terrible to him… I mean, it’s my fault he got captured in the first place! I have to do something to try and rescue him… |
Serena | …… …Oh! I’m sorry. I was just reminding myself of the smell of those fresh Gondolian cakes. I fear the memory will soon be gone forever… |
Serena | …… …Oh! I’m sorry. I was just reminding myself of the smell of those fresh Gondolian cakes. I fear the memory will soon be gone forever… |
Serena | The curse that’s been placed on
Placido is really quite powerful. I wonder who would do a thing like
that…? The poor boy is really suffering. We have to help him get his voice back! |
Serena | Wasn’t it wonderful to hear Placido speaking! I just knew that birdsong nectar would do the trick! Hee hee! |
Serena | Oh! Look at all this beautiful
clear water! It’s such a nice change after the deserts of Gallopolis. Wait a second, though—I hope you don’t mind me asking this but…are we lost? |
Serena | This seems to be the source of
the river that flows from Gondolia out to the sea… I’m pretty sure we’ll find pure water if we go deep enough inside the cave. Let’s follow the river upstream! |
Serena | I really do enjoy going for nice
walks with you, <pc>, but I can’t stop thinking of poor Erik. If you’ve left something here, try and find it quickly so we can get back to Gondolia and rescue him! |
Serena | Isn’t this delightful? It’s just
my kind of place—not too bright, not too crowded! Ah, I could stay here all
day! I don’t know what kind of places we’ll be visiting, but I hope there’ll be plenty more caves like this! Hee hee! |
Serena | Oh dear… I was just about to
bite into the last of the cakes I’d bought in Gondolia when a mean old
seagull came and swiped it away! I mean, it’s hardly the worst thing that’s happened to us on this trip… But it still made me quite cross! |
Serena | …… …Hmm? Did you say something? I, I’m sorry… I was listening to the sound of the waves, and I must have dozed off… |
Serena | …… …Hmm? Did you say something? I, I’m sorry… I was listening to the sound of the waves, and I must have dozed off… |
Serena | Oh, are you looking for
Sylvando? He’s gone off to see someone, I believe. I’m not sure who but he seemed to suddenly remember them the moment we arrived… |
Serena | …… HMM? WHAT? Oh, I’m ever so sorry, <pc>… All these tokens are making so much noise, I can’t hear a word you’re saying! |
Serena | Did you really have to run away
from this place because everyone thought you were the Darkspawn? I mean, everyone looks so kind. Why in the world would they think mean things like that!? |
Serena | This is where you grew up, isn’t it, <pc>? It’s okay. You don’t have to talk about it… |
Serena | Mr Dave said that the merchant
who’d bought the Rainbough had headed for Zwaardsrust. That’s all we know at the moment, so I suppose we’ll just have to ask around and see what other information we can uncover! |
Serena | Veronica and I come from the mountains, so you don’t need to worry about us. We’re more than used to walking for hours on end! |
Serena | Oh dear… This place smells rather odd. It’s a mix of stale sweat…and steel. It’s making me feel rather dizzy… |
Serena | It’s lovely out here, isn’t it?
It really is a treat to take a walk in the fresh air every now and
again. But I do wonder if we should be making our way to our next destination… I mean, I’m more than happy to keep strolling, but you know how impatient Veronica is… |
Serena | I’m not worried about this
tournament in the slightest. I just know you’re going to win! I mean, I can’t imagine any of the other competitors looking better than you in a mask—and that’s the main thing, isn’t it? …Oh! It isn’t? I see… Well, never mind. You’re still going to win, I’m sure of it! |
Serena | I do hope Vince is alright. He
seemed absolutely fine, then he collapsed, just like that… You know, I did see him drink some kind of potion before the fight. You don’t think he was forcing himself to fight even though he was injured, do you? |
Serena | You must have heard the rumours
about fighters going missing, <pc>… I really hope that’s not what’s happened to Jade. Let’s search Octagonia from top to bottom until we find her! |
Serena | It’s finally time for you to
claim your prize, <pc>! You’d better not be late for the
ceremony! I’m sure the nice person behind the desk at the arena will show you where to go. Let’s hurry up and head back there! |
Serena | ‘Come and meet me in Dundrasil.
I’ve something to show you.’ That’s what the letter said, isn’t it? I wonder what it could be. I mean, Dundrasil has been reduced to ruins. What could someone have to show us there? |
Serena | It’s strange that we’ve been
made to come to the place you were born, <pc>. Do you think it’s just a coincidence? Well, I suppose we’ll find out soon… |
Serena | I know the Rainbough is what
we’re after, but I was rather taken with the second prize, too. Did you see
it? It was a beautiful golden ball. Actually, it’s funny but it really reminded me of something I saw in one of my old textbooks back in Arboria… |
Serena | Isn’t it nice that everyone
around here calls Vince ‘Champ’? He really is an impressive fellow. He’s tough, but you can tell he has a kind heart. You can see it in his eyes. |
Serena | W-Well, <pc>… (gulp)
It’s f-f-finally time for the f-f-first round… I’m s-s-sorry… (gulp) I’m t-t-terribly nervous… You c-c-can’t tell, can you? |
Serena | Golden Boy certainly seems to
have enjoyed his time at the tournament! Then again, Sylv does seem to have that effect on people. I’d say they were the perfect partnership! |
Serena | First there are all these
rumours about fighters going missing, and now they say that someone burgled
the orphanage. It’s all rather worrying, isn’t it? You remember what that young lady told us, don’t you? ‘Keep a close eye on your partner’? I wonder if it’s all connected somehow…? |
Serena | Oh, <pc>! I’m so proud of
you! Well done! You were amazing! It’s just such a shame about Vince. I really hope he’s okay… |
Serena | I wonder what the relationship
is between Mr Rab and Miss Jade…? I mean, I’m sure they must be close—he’s clearly ever so worried about her. Let’s find her as soon as we can, <pc>! |
Serena | Miss Jade is safe and sound—and
so are all the other fighters! Thank goodness for that! And it was good to
see Vince admitting that what he’d done was wrong. By the way, did you hear Mr Rab telling Vince that he’d have a word with the Mayor? How in the world does he know the Mayor? He just gets more and more mysterious… |
Serena | First Miss Jade goes missing,
and now we can’t find Vince. I don’t know what’s happening here, but I know I
don’t like it! I mean, if the same person is behind all these disappearances, what exactly are they hoping to achieve…? |
Serena | (sniff sniff) Ahhh… Can you
smell that, <pc>? That dank, musty smell? That’s the smell of a good,
mouldy old cave! Now, I’m not saying it’s very pleasant, but it makes me feel like a real adventurer somehow! Hee hee! |
Serena | …… |
Serena | Have you noticed how the air
tastes totally differently in different parts of the world? It’s a little bit
salty by the seaside, and in the mountains it has the taste of snow… Savouring all its different flavours is one of my favourite things about travelling! |
Serena | …… |
Serena | Mr Rab said he thought you’d
died a long time ago… Could this mean he knows you’re the Prince of Dundrasil…? |
Serena | The grave of the King and Queen
of Dundrasil was so humble… You’d never have known that they were
royalty! Then again, I think Mr Rab may have built it with his own hands. I suppose he had no choice, after what happened here… I can’t imagine how awful it must be to bury your own family… |
Serena | You know, I’ve been thinking
about something that the elders of Arboria have always said. ‘The power to
overcome the darkness lies within Yggdrasil…’ It’s something like that,
anyway. That’s why you have to go there, <pc>. And that’s why Veronica and I have been entrusted with the task of guiding you! |
Serena | What a wonderful place this is!
Just feel that lovely salty sea breeze! You know, I’d like to live in a place like this some day. I could build a pretty little cottage, and breathe in the sea air every morning… Oh, it would be bliss! |
Serena | …… HMM? WHAT? Oh, I’m ever so sorry, <pc>… All these tokens are making so much noise, I can’t hear a word you’re saying! |
Serena | So if we get all the orbs and
put them in the right place, we’ll be able to get to Yggdrasil… But how
exactly, with it floating all the way up in the air? W-Wait a second… We’re not going to f-f-fly there, are we!? Oh dear… I, I, I’m not very good with heights, you know… |
Serena | Back when we were growing up in
Arboria, we had no idea that the world was such a big place. It’s wonderful,
though, isn’t it? There’s always something new and exciting to see! I wonder what kind of adventures we’ll be having next? Gosh, I can’t wait! |
Serena | …… |
Serena | Was that Dora? The little girl
you were telling us about? Oh dear. Something really didn’t seem quite right with her. We’d better catch up with her and make sure she doesn’t come to any harm. |
Serena | Hmm… No. Perhaps I am just
imagining it… Or do you sense it too, <pc>? Something feels different about the village this morning. I’m sure it was a lot livelier than this yesterday… |
Serena | The lady at the inn did mention
that one of her guests didn’t return last night… Perhaps we weren’t the only ones who got sucked into the mural… Wait! Do you think the others could still be stuck in there? |
Serena | Come on, <pc>! We must
tell everyone in the village the truth about the Nhou Wat mural! Let’s start in the main square. There should be lots of people there. |
Serena | I’m still struggling to make
sense of it all. It’s just so hard to believe that sweet little girl was
actually evil… Well, there’s no time to dwell on that now, I suppose. We just need to stop her before she does any more damage. |
Serena | The magic key will let us open
all sorts of new doors, <pc>—doors we wouldn’t have been able to open
before! Just keep an eye out for doors decorated with its special symbol! |
Serena | Look, <pc>! Can you see
those people over there, in the distance? There’s something strange about them—it’s almost as though they’ve been possessed. It really is ever so eerie in here… |
Serena | Do you remember those people we
saw in front of the painting? We definitely saw some of them earlier, when we
were walking around the village. I think they were tourists, here to see the
mural… It looks like we aren’t the only people who got sucked into this place. |
Serena | Gosh… The warning on the stone
was rather frightening, wasn’t it? If the mural is evil and it’s luring people in to feast on their souls…well, you know what that means, don’t you, <pc>? Dora was part of the trap! |
Serena | I just feel terrible for poor
Bazza and the others. They were so keen to see the mural, and it turned out
to be this awful nightmare… There’s nothing worse than having your belief in something betrayed… |
Serena | Now that awful Dora-in-Grey’s
gone, all the people who got sucked into the painting should hopefully have
returned to the real world. Come on, <pc>. We should do the same… |
Serena | I just love looking around old
ruins! It’s so much fun, imagining how people used to live… It’d be a real shame if we didn’t get to spend a day or two exploring Nhou Wat and examining its famous mural while we’re here! |
Serena | Humans and monsters, all studying together without a care in the world… What a wonderful place! |
Serena | The elders of Arboria talk about
there being something within Yggdrasil that has the power to dispel the
darkness… That’s why you have to go there, <pc>. And that’s why Veronica and I have been entrusted with the task of guiding you! |
Serena | Even the poor animals are frozen solid! I do hope they’re going to be alright… |
Serena | How do people get in and out of
the town, if the gate’s frozen shut? Something’s not right here… Let’s see if we can find another way in. |
Serena | So this is the Kingdom of
Sniflheim, is it? I’ve always wanted to come here. The city is meant to be
absolutely beautiful! You don’t mind if we do a spot of sightseeing, do you, <pc>? It would seem a shame not to, after we came all this way… |
Serena | Are you alright, <pc>?
It’s ever so cold out here… It can get rather chilly up on the Arborian Highlands, too, so this is no problem for me—but I imagine it’d be a bit of a shock if you’re not used to it… |
Serena | This place is full of monsters, I can feel it… Let’s watch our step, <pc>. It’s important to rest up and recover after every battle. |
Serena | Any idea what those long, thin fish are called, <pc>? They’re so beautiful! |
Serena | This is incredible… Are we
really able to breathe underwater!? And look! There are fish everywhere, just swimming around! This is a dream come true! |
Serena | …… |
Serena | This place is awfully quiet for a fishing village. I imagined it would have a bustling market like Gondolia… |
Serena | Don’t you think that story was a
little too realistic for a fairy tale? Those poor children were scared out of
their wits. I wonder why she would tell them such a frightening story… Do the people of this village have something against mermaids? |
Serena | I can’t help but feel a little
uneasy in this village, now that we know what happened to Kai’s
grandfather… It may have all happened a long time ago, but it still pains me to think that such nice people could treat Kainoa so badly… |
Serena | It’s such a peaceful night, but my heart’s beating like anything. There’s just something rather frightening about that dark, silent sea… |
Serena | Kainoa was in a very difficult
position—I can’t criticise him for the path he chose. But still, it’s so sad… If only there was another way… If only he and Michelle had been able to live together… |
Serena | Why do people shun those who look or think differently to themselves? It’s so sad… |
Serena | Look at all the graves,
<pc>… The dearly departed Lonaluluans of generations past are
sleeping silently beneath the sand. This must be a sacred place for the people of the village. It’s so very well maintained—there isn’t a scrap of seaweed to be seen. |
Serena | Poor Michelle… Ohhh, how can such terrible things happen to such good people…? |
Serena | The ocean is so still here, it
feels as if one is all alone in the world. To actually spend one’s days on
this beach without a single soul for company must have been so very
lonely… I pray that Kainoa’s soul was able to cross this silent sea and find its way into Yggdrasil’s all-embracing arms. |
Serena | What a wonderful story. A
mermaid and a man falling in love… Why, it’s like something out of a fairy
tale! I can just picture it now. Kai will walk Michelle down the aisle, they’ll say their vows…and then… Oh my! (blush) |
Serena | Kai’s mother said the fishermen
had sailed west from Lonalulu to fight the squid, didn’t she? I think we might have come a little too far… Did we pass them somewhere along the way, perhaps? |
Serena | If I were Michelle, I’d want to
know the real reason why Kai hasn’t come back. After all, it’s only natural to want to know everything about the one you love…isn’t it? |
Serena | All those decades Michelle was
waiting here, the thought of being reunited with her one true love was the
only thing that kept her going. It can’t be an easy thing to reconcile herself to the idea of d—… To the idea of Kainoa’s death… |
Serena | Whenever we come back here, I feel as if Michelle’s going to pop up from beneath the waves at any moment… |
Serena | Michelle looks so happy, looking
forward to the day that Kainoa will come back. Seeing that smile, it…it
breaks my heart. Is this how love between a man and a mermaid is doomed to end? Is there nothing that we can do? |
Serena | I can hardly believe it… We’re
underwater, but we can breathe! And look at all the lovely little fishies swimming around us! It’s like some kind of wonderful dream! |
Serena | Do you know what those long, thin fish are called? The ones with the lovely, silky fins? They’re really rather striking. |
Serena | Who’d have thought that giving
someone a gift could be such a daunting prospect? You’re so brave, <pc>. If I’d been asked to give Michelle that veil, I would have run away as quickly as my legs could carry me! |
Serena | Michelle sang such a beautiful song before she passed away. I didn’t understand the words, but the melody was so very sad. |
Serena | Michelle had nothing but praise
for her, but I wonder what the queen of the mermaids is really like? She must be a very open-minded person if she was happy for Kainoa to come and live in her kingdom, but even so… She might think we’re an invading army if we turn up uninvited! Oh, I do hope we don’t give her a fright… |
Serena | It seemed like Queen Marina knew
that we were coming before we even arrived in her kingdom. I knew that mermaids were magical creatures, but I had no idea that they could see into the future! |
Serena | I’ve played the harp ever since
I was a child, but Lorelei’s harp is completely different to the kind of
instrument I’m used to. It makes such a peculiar sound—just like a chorus of mermaids, all singing at the same time. And the way the melody seems to echo in the air is ever so strange… |
Serena | <pc>, don’t you find it
rather exciting when you see a place that you’d like to go to, but you don’t
know how to get there yet? It feels like the beginning of a grand new
adventure! …Or perhaps it’s just me. I always have had something of a taste for mystery, even if I could only ever find it in my storybooks. |
Serena | What a strange place… The
north is so different to the south—it’s almost as if they’re two completely
separate worlds. Well, <pc>? Which area shall we take a look around first? |
Serena | There’s a lovely smell coming from the school building. It must be tonight’s supper—stew, if I’m not mistaken. My mouth’s watering already! |
Serena | There are a lot of dangerous monsters around here. Please don’t take too many risks, <pc>. If you need to heal or rest, we can always come back again later. |
Serena | With the gates frozen shut, how
do the Sniflheimers get in or out? It must be a real nuisance… Well, standing here worrying about it won’t do them any good. Let’s see if we can find another way into the city. |
Serena | Here we are in the Crystal
Kingdom of Sniflheim! Its castle is said to be the most beautiful in all
Erdrea, and the town is very pretty too. I know that we have a very important mission to fulfil, but now that we’re here, it would be such a shame not to fit in a little sightseeing, don’t you think? |
Serena | Oh, dear. All of the people are encased in ice, and the poor little animals too. I do hope they’re alright in there… |
Serena | …… |
Serena | So it wasn’t just a cold snap
after all—a wicked witch froze Sniflheim with her magic! But if we can defeat
her, it might very well break the spell. Come along, <pc>—we have a witch to defeat and a kingdom to save! |
Serena | This blizzard is making the ice
even thicker. If it keeps up much longer, even defeating the witch might not
be enough to save the Sniflheimers. We must go to the Royal Library right away! It’s the only way we’ll find out how to bring her reign of terror to an end! |
Serena | This blizzard is making the ice
even thicker. If it keeps up much longer, even defeating the witch might not
be enough to save the Sniflheimers. Veronica seems to have a plan, even if she does refuse to share it with the rest of us. I think we should do as she says—it’s always worked out well for me, after all! |
Serena | I was a little concerned that
the poor people of Sniflheim would be badly affected by their horrible
ordeal, but everyone’s going about their business without a care in the
world! It’s as if they have no memory of having been frozen… Perhaps that’s for the best. We wouldn’t want them to have nightmares about it. |
Serena | I wonder who the young fellow
who freed Krystalinda from the grimoire was…? And why would he want her to kill Sir Hendrik, of all people? It’s all ever so confusing… |
Serena | Rab must be quite the
scholar—after all, he wasn’t content with just reading the books at the Royal
Library, he took one away with him! It wasn’t a spellbook, though… I wonder what it is he’s studying? Anatomy, perhaps? I’ll ask if I can take a little look once he’s finished with it. |
Serena | Sniflheim is back to its sunny
old self again, but there’s one thing that still bothers me… Why did
Krystalinda freeze the city in the first place? Was she simply behaving badly for the fun of it, or did she have some other purpose in mind? I suppose we’ll never know… |
Serena | Queen Frysabel seems to be serious about protecting Krystalinda. She must have a very good reason—I wonder what it could be…? |
Serena | Queen Frysabel really is
beautiful, isn’t she? Then again, she is royalty… Ah, but you’re a royal yourself, aren’t you, <pc>? Well, once you’ve fulfilled your duty as the Luminary, perhaps you two might…form a special relationship between your kingdoms! Tee hee! |
Serena | While you were resting in
Snorri’s cabin, Veronica spent every waking hour by your side, holding your
hand and mopping your brow. She must have been ever so worried about you. I’ve never seen her fuss over someone like that before. |
Serena | It seems that book Snorri found
at the library has given my sister some sort of brainwave. She’s awfully clever, you know. If Veronica says she knows what to do, you had better believe her! |
Serena | Are you sure you’re alright,
<pc>? You’re not too cold? Veronica and I come from a village high in the mountains, so we’re used to this climate, but it can be rather inhospitable to travellers from warmer climes. You’ll tell me if you’re feeling chilly, won’t you? |
Serena | You get some awful snowstorms
raging in this forest. The last time we tried to explore its depths, the snow
was so thick we couldn’t see a thing… But if the witch is the one behind the blizzard, she must be inside there somewhere. We shall simply have to keep pressing on! |
Serena | The party of foreign soldiers
that the Queen told us about will probably be here already. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could join forces with them and defeat the witch together!? |
Serena | The witch may have escaped, but
at least we don’t have to worry about her monster friend any more. You were
ever so brave fighting that fiend all on your own, <pc>! Now that her protector is gone, defeating the witch should be that little bit easier…and it’s all thanks to you! |
Serena | Poor Jörmun… He wasn’t the
witch’s ally at all. He was on our side. We had no way of knowing, but still, I feel ever so sorry for what happened to him… |
Serena | Do you like reading, <pc>?
I’ve loved reading storybooks ever since I was a little girl. You can learn all sorts of things through stories, can’t you? About other people’s lives, about the world, about human nature. They’re really very educational. |
Serena | Gosh! There are bookshelves
covering every wall in this building! It’s rather hard to tell one from
another… Be sure to keep a close eye on where you are and which way you’re heading, <pc>, or we might end up going around in circles! |
Serena | What a wonderful place this
is—humans and monsters studying side by side in happy harmony! The rest of the world should learn a thing or two from these girls—it’d lead to an awful lot less fighting, if you ask me… |
Serena | I don’t know about you, but I’d say our Orb hunt is going swimmingly! It won’t be long till Veronica and I have fulfilled our sacred duty to accompany the Luminary to the World Tree! |
Serena | After we cross the Arborian Highlands, we’ll be in the First Forest. Tee hee! I’m ever so excited! |
Serena | Hm? Why are we here, <pc>?
We haven’t found all of the Orbs yet. Did you take a wrong turn
somewhere? Or were you just curious to see what’s at the top of the mountain? Well, I can’t blame you for that! Tee hee! |
Serena | Veronica and I were born and
raised here. We spent so many nights dreaming of the day we would finally
meet you, <pc>. I really can’t believe you’re here with us now… I, I don’t know what to say… |
Serena | There are a lot of dangerous monsters around here. Please don’t take too many risks, <pc>. If you need to heal or rest, we can always come back again later. |
Serena | Do you know what those long, thin fish are called? The ones with the lovely, silky fins? They’re really rather striking. |
Serena | I can hardly believe it… We’re
underwater, but we can breathe! And look at all the lovely little fishies swimming around us! It’s like some kind of wonderful dream! |
Serena | …… |
Serena | Whenever a baby is born in the
village, we offer our thanks to almighty Yggdrasil and ask for Her to watch
over the newborn. I’ve seen lots of baptisms over the years, but they’re always very special moments. You’re only young once, after all! |
Serena | The First Forest that spreads
out beneath Yggdrasil is a very sacred place. It’s been many years since
anyone was allowed to set foot inside it. I can’t believe we’ll be walking on that hallowed ground before long… Dear me, my heart’s beating like anything! |
Serena | The First Forest is an awfully higgledly-piggledy place. I doubt I’d ever be able to make it out of there on my own—I’d spend the rest of my days running around in circles! |
Serena | …… Oh! I’m sorry, <pc>. You must think me an awful dimwit, staring into space like that. It’s just…to be finally going up to Yggdrasil… It’s a lot to take in… It seems like a lifetime ago that Veronica and I first met you. Everything that happened before that day, and all our adventures since… It’s all been leading up to this one special moment… |
Serena | The First Forest is just on the
other side of the Arborian Highlands, but there’s one more place we have to
pass through first… Tee hee! I can’t wait to get there! |
Serena | What are we doing here,
<pc>? I thought we were supposed to be looking for the missing
Orbs… Were you thinking of doing a little sightseeing in Arboria? Well, we do have an important duty to fulfil…but that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun every once and a while! |
Serena | With so much greenery around, it’s difficult to tell where the path ends and the undergrowth begins. We had better check our map once in a while to make sure we’re still on track! |
Serena | My, what a magical place this
is! It must have been just the same when Erdwin visited all those years
ago. Just imagine how many leaves must have grown on these branches and fallen to the floor since that day… It really makes you think, doesn’t it? |
Serena | What a wonderful place this
is—humans and monsters studying side by side in happy harmony! The rest of the world should learn a thing or two from these girls—then we might never have to fight again… |
Serena | Before we left Arboria on our
journey to find you, Veronica reminded me of how slow I can sometimes be, and
told me to buck up my ideas so that I wouldn’t hold her back… She’s ever so forthright, but I wouldn’t have her any other way. When Veronica sets her mind on something, there’s no stopping her! (sigh) I wish I could be more like that… |
Serena | We just need to find the Orbs we’re missing, then we can go straight up to Yggdrasil! Come on, <pc>—just one last push! |
Serena | I don’t mean to nag, <pc>, but are you sure you know where you’re going? I might be wrong, but I thought we were supposed to be heading to the First Forest… |
Serena | It’s true. If you look closely
you can see that something really has been engraved into the side of Erdwin’s
Lantern… I wonder if these are the same ancient runes that Prince Faris was talking about? |
Serena | Prince Faris said he was heading
for the ruins in the middle of the Celestial Sands, didn’t he? There should certainly be a very good view of Erdwin’s Lantern from there… |
Serena | Mr Rab is ever so wise. I’m sure he’ll have no trouble at all deciphering whatever is written on the side of the Lantern! |
Serena | It’s amazing! Someone sliced Erdwin’s Lantern in two before it fell on us! I, I just can’t believe it! |
Serena | Now that the Lantern’s gone,
those horrible dark clouds that were blotting out the sun have disappeared as
well. It’s a real relief. That darkness was really making me feel uneasy… |
Serena | Once we have everything we need
to forge the Sword of Light, we should head for Mount Huji. Hopefully we’ll find the Crucible there, where Erdwin and his companions forged the original sword. |
Serena | According to the legend, the
hero Erdwin was said to have turned into a star so that he could continue to
watch over the world. But now Erdwin’s Lantern is threatening us all—how can this be happening? |
Serena | Everyone here is delighted that
the Lantern is gone, but I can’t help feeling uneasy. After all, we were
brought up to believe that the star watched over us all, that it came from
Erdwin himself. If it really did protect Erdrea, what are we going to do without it? |
Serena | It’s so wonderful to see the
people of Gallopolis smiling once again. They must be ever so relieved! I just wish that Veronica were here to see this. There was nothing she liked better than to see smiling faces… |
Serena | Thank goodness we came here
before the Sultan sold the Forging Hammer! You remember what happened with the Rainbough, don’t you? I don’t think any of us have the patience for any more of that… |
Serena | I had a perfect view of Erdwin’s
Lantern as it came towards Gallopolis. There was a moment when I was sure we were all done for, but we’re still here, thank goodness! |
Serena | Prince Faris called the one who
sliced open the star the saviour of Gallopolis, but I’m really not so
sure… I had the sense that it was a rather sinister presence, though I hope I am wrong, of course… |
Serena | Are you thinking of taking part
in a race, <pc>? It’s just… I thought we were focusing on defeating the Lord of Shadows… I suppose it’s alright to take a break from all that from time to time, though… |
Serena | The statue they have here of the
girl collecting medals is so nice, isn’t it? Whoever modelled for it must
have been ever so pretty. I wonder what she was like? I have a feeling we’d have been good friends… |
Serena | In the past I was always too
scared to speak my mind, or to give my opinion, but I’m a different person
now. It’s all thanks to you. I’m so very grateful. And I want you to know that I’m going to fulfil my destiny and protect you, whatever happens. I owe you nothing less. |
Serena | Can you feel it, <pc>? The
sacred power that emanates from the centre of the Crucible… It’s clear that that’s where we need to forge our sword. |
Serena | The heat is almost unbearable… |
Serena | We did it! We found the
orichalcum! We’re one step closer to forging the Sword of Light! Once we have everything we need, we should head to Mount Huji and look for that ancient forge. |
Serena | You know, when that rope was
stretched, it really did make a ‘puff-puff-puff’ sound! That must be why it’s got that name. Well, you learn something every day! |
Serena | You did it, <pc>! The
Guiding Light got rid of the horrible fog that covered this place. I’m still sensing something evil around here, though… We’d best take care. |
Serena | The fog that covers this place
has a malign energy that’ll drain our spirits if we stay here too long. If
only there was a way to… …Wait! That’s it! We could use the Guiding Light to clear it! Its pure energy could dispel the fog! |
Serena | Veronica and I came here before
we met any of you, but the path to Mount Huji was closed. I remember being desperate to see it… Well, now’s my chance, I suppose! Let’s see what secrets await us within the volcano. |

Serena | It looks like those children are
trying to scare people away from the mountain… But why would they do such a thing? I think we should go and find out more, <pc>! |
Serena | When we came here before
Yggdrasil fell, we were told about how a hero named Ryu had slain a
man-eating dragon and lost his life. And now we learn that he was Miko’s only son… She is clearly a very strong person. She has suffered a terrible loss, and yet she is still dedicated to her people… |
Serena | So the mountain holds some secret? Maybe we should do as Atsuo said and follow the path into the heart of the volcano… |
Serena | Before we met you, Veronica and
I came to Hotto and heard stories of the fearsome dragon that had once
terrorised the village. We were told that Miko’s son Ryu had died while slaying it… So how can it still be alive? |
Serena | It’s so strange. It looked like
Miko was trying to protect the dragon. But why? Well, we can think about that later, I suppose—right now we just need to make sure that dragon doesn’t eat anyone else! |
Serena | We got rid of the dragon, but
the village has suffered some terrible damage… We should speak to some of the local people here before doing anything else. After that, we can think about finishing off the dragon. |
Serena | I, I still can’t believe it. The
dragon was Miko’s son…and he ended up devouring her! It’s such a tragedy. Ryu’s nothing more than a beast now… |
Serena | You need to be very careful,
<pc>. Remember what happened to Ryu when he thought he had defeated the
dragon… If you were to be cursed, it would be a disaster. I will do all I can to prevent it, but you must not put yourself in harm’s way. |
Serena | Wasn’t Atsuo incredible when he
was speaking to the other villagers? He sounded like the most grown-up person
there! I have a feeling he’s going to be very important to Hotto’s future. |
Serena | We’ve got the Crucible key…and
now we can access the ancient forge! Come on, <pc>! Let’s get moving! |
Serena | Oh dear… I do hope I’m wrong, but I’ve got a feeling we have an unwelcome visitor… |
Serena | It can’t be easy for Miko. She
has to communicate with the spirit of the mountain and offer guidance to her
people… What would possess her to protect a dangerous dragon and try to offer up a villager as a human sacrifice, though? We must talk to her, <pc>! |
Serena | Why are those children so eager
to stop the rite taking place? It seems very important to the people of Hotto. I wonder just what’s going on… |
Serena | Growing up in Arboria, we always
looked to the priests for guidance, so I can understand how important Miko’s
role is. Let’s deal with this monster and ensure that the sacred rite can go ahead. |
Serena | Sacrificing an innocent person
is never right, even if it is for the good of the whole village! Why aren’t the people protesting!? Why are they going along with this!? |
Serena | How could we ever live with
ourselves if we abandon Hotto to its fate, <pc>? We need to get back there and defeat that dragon. If we don’t do it, who will? |
Serena | Look, <pc>… Whoever the
dragon used to be, it’s too late for us to help them. There’s only one thing
we can do now. You understand, don’t you? We have to kill it. Don’t worry. I’ll be beside you all the way… |
Serena | The dragon is gone at last, and the souls of Miko and Ryu have returned to rest with Yggdrasil. |
Serena | Being in such a lovely calming
environment probably helps, but it’s still incredible how these students are
all still focused on their studies. I mean, Mordegon’s up there right now in that castle in the sky, and they refuse to let it affect them. Amazing! |
Serena | I never used to believe in
myself. I never said what I really thought or fought my corner… But those
days are gone. <pc>, I promise you I will be with you every step of the way. I will fulfil my destiny, you’ll see! |
Serena | Once we have everything we need
to forge the Sword of Light, we need to go back to Mount Huji. After all, that’s where the first Luminary and his companions originally forged their sword—and now it’s our turn. |

Serena | If that star were to hit the ground, the impact would be devastating… |
Serena | Something is very wrong
here… We need to get to the city and check that everyone is alright. |
Serena | According to the legend, the
hero Erdwin was said to have turned into a star so that he could continue to
watch over the world. But now Erdwin’s Lantern is threatening us all—how can this be happening? |
Serena | Now that Erdwin’s Lantern is
gone, things are slowly getting back to normal. I think this is a good time to ask the Sultan whether he knows anything about the hammer we need! |
Serena | Are you thinking of taking part
in a race, <pc>? It’s just… I thought we were focusing on defeating the Lord of Shadows… I suppose it’s alright to take a break from all that from time to time, though… |
Serena | I’m ever so glad to have found
you alive and well, <pc>. I’ve been searching for you everywhere! I thought that Father Benedictus might be able to help me find you, but the path to Arboria was blocked by that golden boulder. I’ve been at rather a loss about what to do ever since… But now the path is clear! Come on, <pc>—Arboria is right at the top of the mountain trail. Perhaps Veronica will be waiting for us at the top! |
Serena | Erm…<pc>? I don’t mean
to nag, but I think you might have taken us a little off course. I have a very strong feeling that Veronica is in the little grove to the north of Arboria. Would you mind awfully if we went and had a look? |
Serena | Oh, isn’t it wonderful,
<pc>? Flying through the sky on Cetacea’s back and seeing all the
places we’ve been from way up high! Now, I wonder where this floating island Father Benedictus told us about might be? Time to stop looking down, and start looking around! |
Serena | I’m certain that Veronica is in
the little grove to the north of Arboria. I wonder why she didn’t tell Mother
and Father she had returned…? Well, we shall just have to go there and ask her ourselves! Come along, <pc>—to the woods! |
Serena | Veronica is in the little grove
to the north of the village, I’m sure of it. We just have to follow the path
next to our house and we’ll be there in a jiffy. I think we should head there right away. We wouldn’t want to lose her again, after all! |
Serena | …… Come on <pc>, let’s go. I know you must be very upset about losing Veronica. We all are. But you’re the Luminary. You’re Erdrea’s only hope… Father Benedictus said that he wanted us to meet with him in the cathedral. It sounds as though he has something to tell us. |
Serena | …… Oh, I’m sorry <pc>. I was just thinking about what Father Benedictus told us. But I suppose there’s no point brooding over what kind of creature Cetacea might be until he’s finished his research. Let’s go and rest at the inn. |
Serena | Father Benedictus popped by the
inn earlier this morning and said that he had something to show us at the top
of the mountain. I’m sure everyone’s up there now, waiting for us. Let’s go and join them, shall we? The path that leads to the summit is through a little door to the side of the cathedral. |
Serena | The villagers have made a
memorial to Veronica in the old grove. They’ve put it in the same spot where
we found her staff. When our adventure is over, we should go there and pay our respects. I’m sure Veronica would want to be the first to know that she saved the world… |
Serena | If you want to summon Cetacea
again, you should play the Calamus flute at the top of the mountain. As long as you’re standing on the platform with the Mark of Light engraved on it, She’ll come and collect us right away! |
Serena | This academy is world-famous for
its educational standards. When I was a little girl, one of the professors
came all the way to Arboria to give a lecture. She was an older lady—a botanist, if I remember correctly—who had come to study the roots of the World Tree. I wonder if she still works here? |
Serena | Father Benedictus said that we
should seek out the floating island, for there we would find a power to
banish the darkness. Well, this certainly seems like the right place—and if this power is anywhere, it’s probably inside that building. Let’s go and have a look, <pc>! |
Serena | The fog that covers this place
has a malign energy that’ll drain our spirits if we stay here too long. We need to stay away until we can come up with a way to clear it. |

we met any of you, but the path to Mount Huji was closed. I remember being desperate to see it… Well, now’s my chance, I suppose! Let’s see what secrets await us within the volcano. |
Serena | That Watcher only survived
because he was protected by the power of the Guiding Light… It sounds like this power could be what we need to stand up to the Lord of Shadows, <pc>! |
Serena | There’s no doubt about it. The
power that emanates from the sacred seedlings is the power of
Yggdrasil. Take a closer look, <pc>. I have a feeling they have something rather important to show us… |
Serena | The woman with Erdwin must have
been Serenica. She was so beautiful… My sister and I were always brought up to believe we were her reincarnation, but I don’t see any resemblance. Perhaps that was merely a story, who knows? But now that I’ve seen her for the first time, I do feel a curious connection… |
Serena | The desert we saw in the vision
looked strangely familiar. Do you think we might have been there before, <pc>? |
Serena | There’s no doubt about it. The
volcano where Erdwin and his companions created the sword is Mount
Huji. Somewhere within that mountain there must be an ancient forge. We just need to find it. |
Serena | If I’m honest, the thought of
facing Mordegon in battle still terrifies me. But don’t worry, <pc>. I’ll conquer my fear. I’m not going to run away. The Lord of Shadows must be defeated, and peace must be restored to the world. It’s what Veronica would have wanted… |
Serena | The fog that covers this place
has a malign energy that’ll drain our spirits if we stay here too long. We need to stay away until we can come up with a way to clear it. |

Serena | Did you know this school was
haunted, <pc>? Apparently there’s a ghost that walks around the
classrooms at night. I’ve always wanted to meet a ghost—perhaps tonight is my big chance! |
Serena | Veronica… It’s been so hard
without you, but I refused to give up. I’m not the weakling I used to
be. Look at me now. I’m carrying on our sacred mission and offering my guidance to the Luminary. We’re going to succeed—you’ll see! |
Serena | Once we have everything we need
to forge the Sword of Light, we need to go to Mount Huji. After all, that’s where the first Luminary and his companions originally forged their sword—and now it’s our turn. |
Serena | The sense of evil that emanates from the place is almost overwhelming. There’s no doubt about it—the Lord of Shadows is here. |
Serena | If that star were to hit the ground, the impact would be devastating… |

Serena | There’s something pure about
this place. It’s like it’s the only place in the world which Mordegon hasn’t
managed to ruin. The girls here must be so pure-hearted that his evil cannot reach them… His darkness cannot dim their light… |

life lost, gone like falling leaves… We must move quickly, <pc>. We have to defeat Mordegon before he brings more death and despair to the world! |
Serena | I can feel it… I feel each
life lost, gone like falling leaves… We must move quickly, <pc>. We have to defeat Mordegon before he brings more death and despair to the world! |
Serena | Facing Mordegon is your destiny,
<pc>. It’s something you can’t escape… But it’s not a burden you have to carry alone. I’ll be beside you every step of the way. I’ll be there until the end. |
Serena | Facing Mordegon is your destiny,
<pc>. It’s something you can’t escape… But it’s not a burden you have to carry alone. I’ll be beside you every step of the way. I’ll be there until the end. |
Serena | My destiny was to guide you to
Yggdrasil. When it fell, all of that came to an end. I was left without a
purpose… But I made a choice. I chose to stand beside you and aid you in any way I could until we had defeated the Lord of Shadows. I would not change that decision for the world. Whatever happens—however this ends—I have no regrets. You are the Luminary and I will protect you at all costs. |
Serena | My destiny was to guide you to

Serena | It’s ever so fun to be travelling with you again, <pc>. I’m looking forward to visiting Veronica’s grave and telling her everything we’ve been up to. |
Serena | The next time I return to Arboria, Veronica may very well be with me. That would be so wonderful! |
Serena | This is all rather a lot to take in. It’s going to take me a little time… |
Serena | I’ve been meaning to ask you
something. I’m starting to think that short hair really suits me… So if you meet me in the past, please feel free to tell me to have it cut! |
Serena | Look, <pc>! Peace has returned to the world and Yggdrasil is watching over us once again! |
Serena | Come on, <pc>, let’s go to
the ruins in Dundrasil and see if we can find the Wheel of Time. The sacred light that can control time might be able to bring Veronica back. That’s what I believe, anyhow… |
Serena | Well, we’ve got the Wheel of
Time. Now we need to take it to the tower. That’s where the Spirits of Lost Time gather, you see. Or at least, that’s what the book said… |
Serena | I know you have to return to the
past, <pc>, but I just wish it didn’t hurt so much to leave you. Actually, there’s one thing I want to ask you—after you find us in the past, please don’t ever leave us like this again. I don’t want anyone else to go through this… |
Serena | Perhaps I shouldn’t say this,
but King Carnelian is still rather terrifying—and he isn’t even possessed by
the Lord of Shadows any more! He looks rather like Jade did when she turned into a monster. Well, like father like daughter, I suppose! |
Serena | Oh, this place is just full of life. It looks like the kingdom’s in safe hands with Queen Frysabel and Krystalinda. |
Serena | Hee hee! This is a side of Erik I’ve never seen before! It seems he’s a big softie after all! |
Serena | It’s amazing to think that a
young girl like Mia could fill an ocean with gold like that. The power Mordegon gave her was truly terrifying… |
Serena | …Hee hee! Oh, I’m sorry! I just keep thinking of Don Rodrigo’s dancing… Hee hee! |
Serena | Ah, this sea breeze is so
delightful! Even when Mordegon had cast his shadow over the world, this place
always had something special about it. Don’t feel obliged to stay here for my sake, though, <pc>. Isn’t there somewhere else you want to go? |
Serena | Ah, this sea breeze is so delightful! Even when Mordegon had cast his shadow over the world, this place always had something special about it. |
Serena | Your parents must have been wonderful people, <pc>. I wish I could have had the chance to meet them. |
Serena | I know how sad coming here makes
Rab. It’s painful to think about. Still, Irwin and Eleanor have returned to Yggdrasil, along with all the people who lost their lives here. I pray they have found peace. |
Serena | Dundrasil must have been such a
wonderful place before the Lord of Shadows destroyed it. There is so much sadness here, but I pray that one day light and life will return. |
Serena | I’ll do whatever it takes to see
my sister again! Let’s find the Wheel of Time and take it to the tower. We shouldn’t make Veronica wait—you know how impatient she is! |
Serena | We have the Wheel of Time… Could we really be reunited with Veronica if we take it to the tower? We have to try, <pc>… |
Serena | Veronica and I made a vow that
we would always stand by each other, right to the end. I pray that she can be returned to us so that we can be true to our word… |
Serena | What’s the matter, <pc>?
You looked like you were staring at something. …What’s that? You saw strange white creatures walking towards the tower? I guess they’re beings that only the Luminary can see. But what are they doing here? |
Serena | Spirits of Lost Time, if you can hear me, please lead us to the tower… |
Serena | We’ve been around you long
enough to know that once you make up your mind, you’re not going to change
it. If this is the path you feel you have to walk, <pc>, we won’t try to stop you. |
Serena | ……… |
Serena | Do let me know if you’d like
some musical accompaniment, <pc>, I’d be happy to play the harp at any
point. I had a lot of time on my hands back in Arboria, so I’ve been able to hone my skills. I’m a lot better than I used to be, even if I do say so myself! |
Serena | I know we’re not in any
particular hurry, but we shouldn’t forget our purpose—finding the Wheel of
Time. If Rab is correct, we should commence our search in the Dundrasil region… |
Serena | I think we should go to the old
tower that Erik saw to the north of Yggdrasil. Let’s use the Calamus flute to summon Cetacea and then see what we can find. |
Serena | I pray that the spirits of all those who lost their lives here are now with Yggdrasil. |
Serena | Hee hee! This village always
reminds me of when I first met you and Erik, <pc>. I’d wandered into that awful labyrinth, and had just lain down for a little nap by that fountain… Then I met you, and everything changed! |
Serena | I do love a good horse race, <pc>. I just think they’re ever so exciting! |
Serena | Prince Faris still cuts a striking figure, doesn’t he? That feathered hat was really quite something… |
Serena | Are you planning on racing, <pc>? Well, you’d better make sure you win! We expect nothing less, you know! |
Serena | Once our journey is over,
Sylvando, Jade and I have a plan to go and sample all of Gondolia’s finest
desserts. You know you’re very welcome to join us, don’t you, <pc>? |
Serena | I just had a go on one of those
slot machines, though I don’t really understand them. It does seem I won
something, though—hundreds of tokens poured out. Hmm? What did I do with them? Well, wasn’t too sure what they were for, so I just gave them to the person standing next to me. They seemed happy enough… |
Serena | I really respect Vince. The
Masked Martial Arts contest is no more, but he’s decided to stay here to
offer support to the town’s young people. If he does have a fault, it’s that he’s just a little too trusting. I hope no one ever tries to take advantage of his better nature again. |
Serena | Ah, I love the sound of the waves and the cool ocean breeze. We never had any of that in Arboria, you see. |
Serena | Knowing more about life below
the waves makes it hard to eat fish without feeling guilty… Still, I suppose it’s also taught me to be grateful for what I’m eating. |
Serena | The food here is delicious. It
has a delightful spiciness I have never experienced anywhere else. Just smelling that aroma in the air makes my tummy rumble! |
Serena | I tried to read Rab’s favourite
magazine, but he said the Ogler’s Digest wasn’t for me. Maybe he thinks it’s too high-brow. In any case, now I can’t stop wondering what’s in it… |
Serena | To think that the girls here won’t have to grow up in a world ruled by the Lord of Shadows. It makes it all worthwhile! |
Serena | There’s something so nice about
being in Zwaardsrust. The sound of the windmills turning and the breeze blowing through the wheat fields… It’s all ever so soothing! |
Serena | The symbol of this kingdom is a cross between a snowflake and a magical rune. It’s just right for Sniflheim! |
Serena | I can’t help but feel that the
light Erik mentioned must have some significance… Shall we go and investigate, <pc>? |
Serena | Just imagine how much we could have learnt about this sacred light that can control time if all the Watchers had survived! |
Serena | I wonder if Cetacea knew the
Watchers? When we came here, I couldn’t help thinking that She looked sad. It was almost as if She was thinking about old times and lost friends… |
Serena | I know I can be absent-minded,
but I don’t think I’ve ever wandered off while someone was talking to
me… And what’s that strange smile you’ve got on your face? Is something the matter? Well, whatever it is, it’s nice to see you. I know you were only gone for a few moments, but it feels like I haven’t seen you in the longest time… |
Serena | It’s finally time to fulfil our
destiny and lead you to the Heart of Yggdrasil. In the name of the sacred land of Arboria, we will protect the Luminary. Whatever happens, my sister and I will make sure no harm comes to any of you. Now, come on, <pc>. It’s time to go. |
Serena | Being invited to a banquet in
Heliodor is an honour, but I can’t help feeling nervous about it. It’s silly, though. I mean, when you first went to Heliodor you were on your own, weren’t you? I wish I was half as brave as you. |
Serena | All these weeds and whatnot make it hard to stay on the right path. Make sure you keep your eyes on the map. |
Serena | Maybe I’m imagining this, but when King Carnelian went to touch the Sword of Light, I’m sure I saw some kind of shadow pushing him away… |
Serena | Erdwin’s Lantern is the symbol
of the Luminary, <pc>… So come on! We need to find out what’s going on! It seems our adventure isn’t over yet… |
Serena | Gosh, it’s really something to
get to march right into Heliodor Castle as guests of the King himself! I just hope we don’t do anything to embarrass ourselves, <pc>. You and I aren’t used to the big city, after all! |
Serena | You’re alright, aren’t you, <pc>? Oh, thank goodness… |
Serena | Erdwin’s Lantern is the symbol of the Luminary. We must find out what’s going on… |
Serena | It still feels strange to be
travelling with Hendrik, but we’re allies now, so we’ll have to put the past
behind us. I’m still a bit nervous around him, to be honest. Should I be calling him ‘sir’? |
Serena | This place really is delightful. It’s so green and the air is so fresh. It reminds me of home! |
Serena | The Seer had a vision of us
riding on Cetacea to see the Watchers—and now it looks like it’s come
true. With any luck, they’ll be able to tell us something about the black star… |
Serena | The seedlings of Yggdrasil know
everything… Well, the Elder has been around for a long time. He must know what he’s talking about. |
Serena | After Serenica played her flute,
the Sword of Light glowed, and Cetacea became ever so powerful… I can’t pretend to understand how it all works, but it seems that finding that flute should be a priority! |
Serena | The vision Yggdrasil shared with
us showed Cetacea carrying the first Luminary and his companions. I wonder if Cetacea can sense that you share the same power as Erdwin, <pc>? I wonder how much She knows… |
Serena | I can sense the power emanating
from the Guiding Light. Just being close to it makes you feel ever so
safe. Could this flame really come from Yggdragon? Could it really contain the power of the world’s creator? |
Serena | The Seer told us that the
Timekeeper is waiting for us, but that we’d need the power of the Watchers in
order to reach her… They know how to get to that tower, <pc>. I’m absolutely certain of it! |
Serena | You heard the Seer’s words, <pc>!—Serenica is waiting for us in the tower north of Yggdrasil. We need to call Cetacea and head there right away! |
Serena | To be honest, the Watchers made
me a little uncomfortable when we first met them, but now I can see how
good-hearted they are. They have done so much for us, we have to repay them by defeating the Dark One. It’s the least we can do. |
Serena | The dark star above Gallopolis
has agitated the monsters into becoming even more vicious than usual… Whatever it is, it seems to radiate evil. We need to do something, before it can cause any more damage. |
Serena | It seems the Dark One’s
appearance above Gallopolis has made the monsters even nastier… I suppose it’s no surprise. Calasmos radiates the purest evil. Unless we defeat him, things are only going to get worse. |
Serena | It’s amazing to think that
Serenica has been in that tower all this time, waiting for Erdwin. Losing him must have hit her very hard. I can’t even imagine how she felt… |
Serena | Think about all the people we’ve
met on our journey, <pc>. No matter who they are, no matter how rich or poor, they’re all trying to live their lives as best they can. We owe it to them to rid the world of the Dark One. We must give them hope for the future. |
Serena | Mount Pang Lai and the Arborian
Highlands are sacred peaks that surround and protect Yggdrasil. Indeed, the mountains themselves are objects of worship for the people that live here. Well, it’s not surprising—they are magnificent. |
Serena | Gosh! This really is quite a
tower. It’s amazing to think it was here all along… The mountains must have stopped anyone from spotting it, I suppose. The world really is full of surprises, isn’t it!? |
Serena | There’s no doubt about it,
<pc>. That’s the tower the seedling showed us. Serenica must be inside,
waiting to meet the Luminary… She’s been there for so long, we shouldn’t keep her waiting any longer. Let’s head inside! |
Serena | That’s it! That’s the tower we
saw in the vision! Serenica must be in there, waiting for us. There’s no sense in waiting any longer, <pc>. Let’s use the Wheel of Time and head inside. |
Serena | Long ago, Serenica fought to
restore peace to the world. Now that battle is ours. We won’t let her down. We can’t. |
Serena | Serenica came to this tower
after losing Erdwin, and it seems she’s been here ever since. It’s so sad to think of her all alone, pining for the man she loves… |
Serena | Do you know, I found a mini
medal lying on the ground when I was a little girl. I thought it was a gold
coin, so I tried to buy some sweets with it… I’ll never forget how the shopkeeper laughed at me. Even thinking about it makes me blush! |
Serena | It seems that mini medals are a
source of real joy to the students here—it’s as though they give them hope
for the future. We’ll have to do our bit too, <pc>. Let’s fight so these girls can have the future they deserve! |
Serena | You don’t have to worry,
<pc>. It seems none of your fellow villagers were hurt when Cobblestone
was destroyed. What’s more, it’s clear that they’re not going to let this defeat them. They’ll rebuild Cobblestone brick by brick, I just know they will! |
Serena | It seems that Noah is still the
man to go to for juicy gossip. Why don’t we go and have a word with him, <pc>? He may know something that will prove useful. |
Serena | So you married your childhood
sweetheart, eh? It’s just like something out of a storybook. It does make me think I’d like to meet a nice man of my own one day, though… |
Serena | It’s wonderful that you’re
living with Erik now—you two were always so close, after all. I’m sure he’ll be a big help around the house, too. He tends to notice the little things that other people might overlook. |
Serena | I do hope Veronica isn’t causing
you too much trouble. Be sure to let me know if she is—I’ll do my best to get her to behave. |
Serena | This really is a lovely village,
and I’m so happy I was given the chance to live with you here. I know we can’t truly relax until the Dark One is defeated, but let’s try and share what’s on our minds whenever we can—it’s sure to help! |
Serena | This really is a lovely village,
and I’m so happy I was given the chance to live with you here. By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask you… Could we go for a walk up Cobblestone Tor together? I’ve wanted to visit ever since I first came here. |
Serena | Living with Sylvando must be
ever so nice—he can turn his hand to just about anything! Maybe it’s for the best I don’t live with him. Something tells me I’d end up having him do everything for me… |
Serena | Whenever I was worried about
something, Jade was always a willing listener. I have so many fond memories of the two of us staying up all night, talking and indulging in a sweet treat or two… Hmm? What were we discussing? Oh, I can’t tell you that! Tee hee! |
Serena | It’s so nice that you’re able to
live with your grandad again after spending so long apart. I always feel blessed that I get to spend so much time with my sister—do be sure to treasure your time with Rab. |
Serena | I think it’s wonderful how you
and Hendrik have put aside your differences and moved in together. Though I do wonder from time to time what exactly you two talk about… |
Serena | ‘Humble folk of
Cobblestone, Great Land Spirit’s hearth and home…’ That’s how it goes, isn’t it? I think it’s just wonderful how much respect the people of Cobblestone have for the Spirit of the Land. |
Serena | I’ve served as your protector
for quite some time, but now that we live together I have a rather different
role… I promise I’ll do my best to be a better cook and do my share of the housework! Tee hee! Here’s to many happy years together, <pc>! |
Serena | It shouldn’t really surprise me
any more, but you really are quite the warrior, aren’t you? I suppose I’ll
just have to do everything I can to support you from the sidelines… Actually, if you don’t mind terribly, would you mind if we went up to the top of the Tor? The view must be amazing! |
Serena | Whenever we come to Heliodor, I
get the feeling that Jade is more relaxed than usual. Well, it is her home, I suppose. It’s only natural that she’d be relieved to have finally made it back after so many years away. |
Serena | Seeing Jade back in her hometown
does make me miss Arboria… Oh, but don’t worry, <pc>! We’re not going to abandon you. We’ll stand beside you until we have fulfilled our destiny! |
Serena | Now that Jasper is free from his
torment, his spirit can finally return to Yggdrasil. I pray he can find his way there, and rejoin the river of life. |
Serena | I sensed such an ugly, horrible
hatred coming from that black shadow on the balcony. If we don’t do something, Jasper will never escape that darkness, and that sounds like a fate worse than death… |
Serena | Hearing about what happened between Hendrik and Jasper is so sad. It just shows that no matter how close two people may be, things can always come between them. |
Serena | That vision we saw in the
courtyard was truly terrifying. It was as though our entire world had been
engulfed by darkness… Do you think that really happened? But when? How? Oh, it’s frightening to even think about it! |
Serena | This area was not originally
part of the city, but it grew and grew as more and more people came and made
their homes here. Well, it may not be fancy, but it’s certainly full of life—and it’s as much a part of Heliodor as anywhere else. |
Serena | Hee hee! This village always
reminds me of when I first met you and Erik, <pc>. I’d wandered into that awful labyrinth, and had just lain down for a little nap by that fountain… Then I met you, and everything changed! |
Serena | When Ryu became a dragon, Miko
devoted herself to finding a way to turn him back into a human… Most people would have given up, I imagine, but she just kept trying. I suppose that’s the power of a mother’s love. Perhaps one day I will have children of my own, and then maybe I’ll understand. |
Serena | You can feel it too, can’t you?
Whatever evil is emanating from that fallen star, it’s infecting the whole of
Gallopolis. Even the air feels heavy with it. It feels like there’s something slowly choking the life out of the kingdom. |
Serena | It seems there’s always time for
horse racing in Gallopolis, no matter how bad things get! Oh, and it looks like they’ve added a new even tougher challenge! Perhaps taking part would be a good way to clear your head? |
Serena | With the monsters gone, the cake
shop should have reopened! Now I can eat as much as I like without any rude interruptions! Ah, my teeth are hurting just thinking about it! Hee hee! |
Serena | This is terrible! With all these
monsters around, who’s going to make Gondolia’s famous sweet treats? We can’t allow this! We need to fight back, for the sake of all the people of this town…and their baked products! |
Serena | I remember coming here when we
were searching for the Rainbough. It was so exciting watching you and Erik
taking part in the Masked Martial Arts contest. I was there the whole time, cheering you both on! You were amazing, <pc>! |
Serena | It’s curious that the monsters
down here don’t come to the surface and attack the town. I wonder if it’s the sacred nature of the orphanage that’s keeping them at bay? |
Serena | Coming here reminds me of our
first trip in Sylvando’s ship. I’ll always remember seeing those pretty
windmills turning in the breeze. That was a long time ago, wasn’t it? It was before Jade and Rab had even joined us. It’s been quite an adventure… |
Serena | Coming here reminds me of our
first trip in Sylvando’s ship. I’ll always remember seeing those pretty
windmills turning in the breeze. That was a long time ago, wasn’t it? It was before Jade and Rab had even joined us. It’s been quite an adventure… But now it looks like it’s drawing to a close. We face our final battle, and we must do what the first Luminary could not—defeat the Dark One, once and for all. |
Serena | You had wonderful parents,
<pc>. They must have been overjoyed to see the man you have become. Now they have returned to Yggdrasil, where they can truly rest in peace. |
Serena | Oh dear… There’s some oppressive sense of evil in the air. I didn’t feel this the last time we came here. We need to be careful. |
Serena | It’s horrible down here. It’s
almost as if all the bad memories of what happened to Dundrasil are stored in
this dungeon. In fact, you can almost hear the voices of all the poor people who lost their lives. I just pray they can rest in peace. |
Serena | Puerto Valor really is a beautiful place. It almost makes you think that everything is right with the world. But it isn’t, of course—and we’ve got to do something about it! |
Serena | Don Rodrigo really couldn’t be
more different from his son. He’s much more…traditional. It makes me wonder what Sylvando’s mother was like… |
Serena | Well, now we know where Sylvando
comes from. His past was always shrouded in mystery, so it’s nice to finally
learn the truth. I mean, I did wonder where he learned to handle a sword and ride a horse like that. And he’s always had a really chivalrous side, hasn’t he? Suddenly it all makes sense. |
Serena | Don Rodrigo’s quite something,
isn’t he? He managed to sneak in here without any of us spotting him. Nothing
gets past Hendrik usually! And now he’s promised to give us his aid, there’ll be no stopping us! Let’s make sure we make the most of his generous offer! |
Serena | Don Rodrigo said he would make
sure the Kingsbarrow was open for us, didn’t he? They don’t let just anyone do this trial. Let’s make sure we’re as ready as we can be! |
Serena | ……… …I’m sorry, I was miles away. There’s something about seeing the slot machines spinning that I find totally mesmerising. I just never want them to stop. No wonder I’m not very good at gambling. |
Serena | Ah, I love the sound of the waves and the cool ocean breeze. We never had any of that in Arboria, you see. |
Serena | This is where we first met
Michelle, isn’t it? I’ll never forget that day, you know. After all, I never imagined I’d ever get to meet a real mermaid! |
Serena | Now the villagers are freed from
that horrible curse, they can get on with their lives. But you never know what’s going to happen next as long as that horrible star remains in the sky… |
Serena | It’s only the younger villagers who seem to be dancing. I wonder why that might be… |
Serena | I remember being in here before
we found Dora-in-Grey. There was something in the air, something really
sinister… Well, that’s exactly what it feels like now. I have a horrible feeling there’s something nasty waiting for us up ahead. |
Serena | It seems that the monsters in
this area have been acting up since the dark star appeared… Sniflheim is a long way from Erdwin’s Lantern, but there doesn’t appear to be any part of the world that its evil can’t reach. |
Serena | You’ve heard, right? Krystalinda
is going to help us out! She’s several centuries old, so she’s bound to know a lot of useful things. Come on, let’s go and see her! |
Serena | I still feel awful about all
that business with Jörmun. I’m going to pray that he rests in peace. It’s the least I can do… |
Serena | Do you like reading, <pc>?
When I was a child, I used to read storybooks all day long. My favourite was a book called ‘A Ripple on the Sea of Love’. I used to know it by heart! It was about the love between a human and his mermaid sweetheart. It was a real tear-jerker. If you ever get the chance, I highly recommend it! |
Serena | It’s amazing to think that Erik
and Mia grew up with a crew of Vikings. It must have been so tough for them. I pray they can put those bitter memories behind them and focus on the future. |
Serena | They say that this is the home
of the Vikings. They sound pretty scary, of course, but there’s something
I’ve always found really exciting about travelling the world, hunting for
treasure… I mentioned that to Erik, but he told me he didn’t want to talk about any ‘stupid Vikings’. I hope I didn’t say the wrong thing… |
Serena | Our homeland has always been
famed for its music, and that’s because of Serenica’s influence, or so the
story goes. She loved to sing and play, and they say that a lot of our traditional tunes were written by her. I sometimes feel like she’s still with us in spirit, actually. |
Serena | The Wheel of Harma sounds rather
brutal. Fighting monsters without a break will certainly not be easy. If we’re not allowed any time to stop and recover our strength, we’re going to have to make sure we’re well prepared before we get started. |
Serena | The Arborian Highlands and Mount
Pang Lai have always had deep connections to the Luminary. In fact, everyone we meet here may well have some significance to our quest. |
Serena | Brrr! It’s so cold…! It’s
strange though. The Arborian Highlands must be around the same altitude as
this, but they never get quite this chilly… Well, let’s not hang around here too long, <pc>, or we’ll all freeze to death. |
Serena | Knowing more about life below
the waves makes it hard to eat fish without feeling guilty… Still, I suppose it’s also taught me to be grateful for what I’m eating. |
Serena | Veronica and I never laid eyes
on the sea when we were growing up, and I remember how amazed we were when we
first saw it. It was just so huge! Bigger than we had ever imagined. I’ve always thought that mountains are like a strict father who watches over you, and that the ocean is like a mother, surrounding you and protecting you. That doesn’t sound too odd, does it…? |
Serena | I still can’t quite believe we
all swung that huge hammer and forged the Sword of Light together. …But you know the strangest thing? I have this feeling that I’ve done the same thing before. That can’t be true, though…can it? |
Serena | Can you feel it too? There’s a
sacred power emanating from the centre of the forge. It feels like we could make something truly special there. Shall we give it a go, <pc>? |
Serena | The heat is almost unbearable… |
Serena | This place has certainly been
abandoned for a very long time… But I wonder what brought people here in the first place? |
Serena | The people of Hotto worship the
spirit that they believe dwells within Mount Huji. We have many similar beliefs in spirits and sacred places in Arboria. I understand how important the mountain must be to those who live nearby. |
Serena | It’s a bit chilly, isn’t it? Let’s get going before we freeze! |
Serena | Remember, <pc>, if things get tough, we can always head back to the surface to recover our strength. |
Serena | The Watchers continued to live
here and protect this place long after Drustan died. They must have really respected him. |
Serena | Isn’t it amazing? A quiet little
village in the middle of a big scary labyrinth. This is a perfect spot for us to rest and recover our strength. After all, we have no idea what’s waiting for us up ahead. |
Serena | Fighting all these monsters will
take a heavy toll if we don’t take the time to recover between bouts. If we take any damage, it’s best to make sure we’re fully healed before taking on the next monster. Slow and steady wins the day! |
Serena | The monsters in the Trial of the
Sage are even tougher than in the last trial. If we can’t beat them, maybe the best thing to do would be to go back and give the Trial of the Disciple another go. That should give us a bit of confidence. |
Serena | Drustan said that foe we will
have to face in the final trial is our own fear. Well, we all know that the fear which dwells in our hearts can be overpowering. We’d best steel ourselves for whatever lies ahead. |
Serena | How far have we travelled since we left the village? Are we ever going to get out of this place? |
Serena | I sense it too… This dread…
It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before… We should only take on this threat once we are fully prepared for every eventuality, <pc>… |
Serena | It was so nice to spend time
with you again, <pc>! It’s always so much fun! But now it’s time for our journey to end. The Sword of Light must be returned to Yggdrasil. As one thing ends, though, another begins. We’ll have adventures together again someday, I’m sure of it. |
Serena | …… |
